p.s. one of the worst goalkeeping flaps i've seen in a while. if he'd just stood still he'd have stopped that.

p.s.s. Andie why do keepers do that "falling back away from the ball" move which invariably creates the space for the ball to go in the net? Dazby, don't try and answer you child.

cheers

I am going to answer, because I've recently asked my goalkeeping swami a similar question. Ruddy missed that because the ball took one hell of a swerve. He was diving the correct way but if you watch the replay it makes one hell of a swerve. A similar incident happened to me once and it's just so embarrassing.

Anyway, I don't think he was falling back away from the ball. He was just following the flight before the flight changed. I find it weird that keepers jump and hit the ground after making saves that they could have made while keeping their feet. I think this is what you are trying to say. My swami believes it allows you to cover the swerves better. I disagree. I think if you remain grounded you can get more purchase on the ball and make a stronger block.

A keeper who falls away from the ball has bad technique. They should be coming forward to assist pushing the ball away from goal.

I found it too hard judge as there wasn’t a camera angle from what Ruddy saw but Dazby is correct that ball has swerved like a fucker and bamboozled the lad. The new balls are pants for keepers. If you get a head on view of the ball you can see them moving all over the shop. People like the Tranny take full advantage of this with great affect. I know that Ruddy asked one of the sky guys when he was in the tunnel about the swerve on it.

I thought the standard of goalkeeping today was pretty low from two of the best performing keepers this season. Neither covered themselves in any glory. I think Joe will be unhappy with his performance today, very sloppy from a lad that sets himself very high standards. I was saying to lee and Ant that if you start the game sloppy as a keeper with you kicking it can be hard to rectify that in the game as it plays on your mind and you tend not to relax and become tense. As for the punch he will be disappointed with that no distance on it and then he got spun round and had his back to the play as he landed. Im glad though that he had a little blip today and not in the Derby. Im sure he will be hard at in training this week. Very close to being world class our Joe.

Joe's kicking borders on comedy.

I remember when we brought in Shay Given, the number of times we lost possession from keeper related shenanigans went down spectacularly. He's improved immeasurably on almost everything since those days but still, if it involves kicking the ball, a pass to Joe is a pass to the opposition & we should only do it when we have no other choice.

Seems a lot of fans are forgetting what a cunt tevez is/has been/will be. I hope the same fans don't cry when he fucks off in the summer. Top player and whilst fit I want him out there, but he's fucked our season up quite a bit.
