Robinho transfer exclusive: Barcelona flying in to thrash out £34million deal
Published 13:07 06/11/09 By By John Cross

Barcelona technical director Txiki Begiristain will lead a delegation from the Spanish giants to thrash out a deal for Manchester City’s Brazilian superstar Robinho next Wednesday.

Barca chiefs are claiming that they have set up a meeting with Sheik Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi and put forward three proposals to try and broker a deal for Robinho.

The reigning European champions are prepared to pay the £34million that City paid Real Madrid for Robinho last year for a permanent transfer in January.

Barcelona are also putting forward a loan deal, signing him in January until the end of the season, with a £3million loan fee and paying his £160,000-a-week wages or an 18 month loan deal with a view to a permanent move.

Robinho, currently recovering from a stress fracture, is keen to return to Spain even though City boss Mark Hughes has publicly claimed he does not want to sell.

Brazil star Robinho said: “I’m calm. My father takes care of those matters.” Then when told the deal was close, Robinho told a Spanish newspaper: “If so, that’s good.”

Robinho has made it clear that he wants to quit City and team up in Barcelona with Lionel Messi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a dream attacking line-up.

Former Arsenal captain Thierry Henry is believed to be on his way out of the Nou Camp with MLS club New York Red Bulls keen to sign him while City have also been interested in the past.

Sheik Mansour is expected to meet with Begiristain and Barcelona’s director of football Raul Sanllehi and board member Albert Perrin.

But City’s wealthy owners are stressing that they will not give the transfer the go-ahead unless it gets manager Hughes’ blessing.

It was believed Robinho was unaware of which club he was joining when he left Real Madrid in August 2008 and has had an inconsistent career at City.

IS THIS JUST MORE FUCKING BORING CRAP................OH ITS FROM THE MIRROR BY THE WAY.

Seems like the Mirror is following the Sun who have been pushing this story all week. It doesn't make sense that its the Sheik that would be talking to them. Thats what makes me think is bullshit.

Looking back at recent results we are a better team with Robbie than without. I hope he stays.

I think he will be gone personally.
"Like all bullies, they've just found out that there is a much bigger guy in town, someone who is richer and more powerful than their worst nightmare. And this smiling Arabic assassin is intent on stealing all the treasures they've nicked off everyone else, and pulverising them into commercial and footballing oblivion as he does so."

from spanish news

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has cooled claims he's chasing Manchester City winger Robinho.

Barca sports director Txiki Begiristain and president Joan Laporta have both admitted their interest in the Brazil star.

But after their draw at Champions League opponents Rubin Kazan in midweek, Guardiola insisted: "I have not even thought for half a second about a new buy.

"I have an indestructible faith in my team. Robinho? When we do not win, it is always the day after the front pages of the newspapers run with his story."

Another way of saying the press just make up bollocks and people that take it in are daft - wish CITY fans were as sensible

CUNTS.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

Well I hope he's being honest as we need Robbie now more than ever. Its been very clear in the last 5 matches how much we have missed him. Just look at out goals tally this season compared to same time last season.
