Europa League final

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I really think we will try to offload dzeko soon. I also think that Bobby will not go for a big target man type striker again soon, as it really does not suit our system. That means if Tevez leaves as well (not as likely as dzeko leaving IMO), we will need 2 strikers. players like falcao or cavani can hold up the ball just as well as a typical "target man" but also know how and when to keep the flow going. I think we may also take a punt on muniain, who looks like one of the hottest attacking prospects in the world, again ... my opinion.

Atletico are a great team. Deserve to be in the CL next year but look like they're going to be pipped by Malaga.

We´ll prolly miss out due to our involvement in this. Malaga have been very inconsistent and could qualify with 58 points having not played any Euro or cup games. Cazorla has single handedly got them there. He´s wasted at fuclin Malaga.
That´s how bad the rest are

Aupa Atleti!! 25 to go - we´ve owned Athletic tonight. Still time though - need a 3rd

Munian had a so so game, with no end product but sure that the lad left his heart out on the field, I was a little sad to see him crying on the third goal and at the end of the game. Being all basque it was so meaningful to them, nevertheless brillant run and brilliant football during there campaign. Falcao was just too good for them.

I thought he was fantastic, not for his actual play which was almost as bad as the rest of the Bilbao team, but for the fact that in a team who's arse had completely gone, he was the one guy who wanted the ball all the time & tried & tried to make things happen amidst a team full of bottlers. He only turned 19 in Dec ! Balotelli would have sat down & given up, & he's 21.

He was the same in the semi; just working his balls off even when things went wrong. He has the character to be a champion.

Herrera & Martinez were fucking pathetic (again). I hope we don't sign either.

Yeah, it was crazy after the third goal and he cried on the pitch, he was shouting at his teammates to pass him the ball, he gets the ball, lost it at the 91st and he was tracking back like a mad man in additionnal time with three nil on the scoreboard. Definitely heart of a champion.

Martinez... I think he's defintely a pure CM, and this crap of him being DC or RB has to stop, when he meet a world class striker like Falcao he will be utter shit. I think he's a good player, then to be buy is another story...

All game, my eyes were on Llorente. I wanted to see his movement, how he is without the ball and i must say, we will make a huge mistake if we buy him.

He is 100 % like Dzeko, even worst if you ask me. His first touch was dreadful, he didn't do anything to provide spaces for the two wingers, he had problems shooting, altought there were a couple of situations when he had the opportunity.

So no thank you.

On the other hand, Falcao was stellar and if Herman will decide to go again awol, we must sign this lad. He is fucking incredible.

Did they show the pitch invasion from the first half?

Well the Bilbao lads bottled it. Men against boys. Very useful for us to see these players when the chips are down. Thanks but no thanks. Where does that leave the rags?

llorente wasn't fit but either way he's a lot physically stronger & much more aware of players around him than Dzeko. Dzeko could do the same if he really tried though, no doubt.

Falcao was more involved than usual tonight. he doesn't usually contribute so much or look very quick, which makes me even less impressed with Martinez, who couldn't get near him.

So Martinez, Munain, and Llorente all looked like shit?

Is that just cuz they got beaten by a better team? Surely they have to be good if people
on here have been ranting and raving about them, especially Matinez. I dont think one
game should turn us/people off to them...

Actually, I think Martinez had a so-so game, the one Athletic CB that was at fault for all three Atletico goals was Amorebieta, who was not 100% fit. Also, Aurtenetxe was really bad on the left side of the defence, and Martinez actually tried to provide cover for their mistakes.

It's too harsh judging players on one game, especially when it's the 60th game of the season for most of Bilbao players.
Roberto Mancini was the man who brought us our first trophy in 35 years. He was the man that brought us our first league title in 44 years. He brought us one of the greatest moments of our lives. He masterminded a 6-1 win at Old Trafford, and a Wembley win over United. He challenged Ferguson, he argued with him on the touchline, he brought success, and he punched the air in delight with the rest of us at the madness of it all. He had style, panache and a winning smile. All those memories he gave us will never be forgotten, in a wonderful period in this club’s long history.
And I swear, we’ll never see anything like it again.

Falcao was superb. World class. Unfortunately there are rumours Chelsea are sniffing. Maybe Torres could be part of the deal?

Munain was impressive. He was by far their best player last night and, like Ted said above, he always wanted the ball and went Diego scored the third, he burst in to tears.

That kid has a huge future.

No, Llorente won't fit in our system. My target last night was looking at him all night, to see how good is he & he is a little better than Dzeko at the moment, because Edin didn't played so often. If Llorente will come and will have to face the same rotation mode that Bobby had this year, he would not deliver. Trust me on this. He isn't good enough for us. He is at the same level as Urzaiz, if you remeber him some years ago.

Muniain is far better.
