Another Bonus From Yesterday

Postby Alioune DVToure » Mon May 14, 2012 2:08 pm

It occurred to me in bed last night that we can finally attach a meaning to those three stars on the crest. I always hated being abroad and being asked by Spaniards and Italians what they stood for, without being able to give an answer. It got to the point where I'd only wear the retro gear on my travels. I still wish we'd kept the last badge, but maybe I can finally grow to love this one fully now.

I'd thought that, but it's going to look ridiculous in a few years when it's covered in stars.

What, so if someone asks you now, you can lie to them and tell them its league titles, when obviously it isn't. If you meet a clever one who says, so what they fuck did you have it on last years shirt for too?

I'd avooid the subject if possible, especially with Italians, are their star not for 10 titles each

It's OK, we can go for one of those European Union style badges.

That's why it was always such an embarrassing topic. I remember when we took on the badge and it was described as a continental-style addition or something. I was only about 13 at the time and I thought it was a brain fart of the highest order.

But now I'll always associate it with winning the league. The same goes for the new ground. I never thought I'd love it as much as Maine Road, but one day now perhaps I will. I'm so glad we won the league at home.

can confirm in Italy a star stand for 10 titles.
and by the way, the italian rags, Juventus FC, are being so blatantly arrogant to claim they are now entitled to the third star, despite their league winning honours actually standing to 28, because 2 of them were, righteously withdrawn after the last Big Fixing Scandal, where they had been found guilty, by both FA and State Justice, to have arranged the carreer of the whole professional referees, who by the way, report to the League Association which has alway been chaired by either a Juventus or a AC Milan appointed man.

2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

Let's just get the old crest back and we don't have to think about any of this shit.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Amen. Though sadly that will never happen with the current badge now being so recognisable around the world.

I think after yesterday the Etihad has replaced Maine Road in my affections. I will never forget yesterday's game for as long as I live and the Etihad will forever be known as the ground where we ended 44 years of hurt

I've always pretended it's a star for the league, a star for the domestic cups, and a star for the European trophy. Not many clubs in England (only 9 I think) have won all the major domestic honours and also won in Europe.

Not completely convincing but it's worked for me.

I'll never forget that but most of my memories involving Maine Road are associated with failure, specifically relegation. We have been in the Premier League every season since we moved to the Etihad and now we have won our first top-flight title for 44 years at this stadium - much happier memories at the Etihad for me.

I always said it was for every decade we went without winning a trophy. I'm happy to run with 3 titles now.

If you run into a clever one who brings that up, you can point out the salford clowns sold Champ20ns shirts and scarves before they knew, we just backed our prediction up.
