Zidane

I was searching for zidane’s Champions League Final goal against Bayer Leverkusen and came across this clip.
I’ve never seen such a complete player in life. Did he have any weaknesses apart from the Materazzi headbutt?

I consider myself lucky to be of an age where I was able to watch him at his best. 'Total control'.

Me too in terms of someone who had complete mastery of the ball. That documentary of his last game for Madrid is amazing.

Plus he dragged a very ordinary France side to the final in 2006. Let's not mention what happened next!

Skip to 2:56 of the OP's video. Brilliant.

He isn't a patch on Buster Phillips, but that's just my opinion.

You've obviously never seen Phil Jones.

He reminds me of a young Duncan Edwards.

Was that also a riff on his semi-slapheadedness? If so, well done.

Beside that moment with in the World Cup final, he had another two incidents that surprised me. One with one saudi arabian player at World Cup 98 and one with a player from Lecce it think, while he was at Juventus.

I didn't liked him. I thought he was class, but he had always something that i was really annoyed by.

Another thing that i hated about him was that hype after the final with Leverkusen. For me that was a good strike, but that is it, it wasen't the best strike that this game had seen in over 100 years. It was just a good strike in front of a mediocre keeper.

Me aswell. The hype around Messi I find a bit OTT.Besides his remarkable goalscoring I think there is a few bits of his game where he is not the same as some before him.

Him and Ronaldo were the best players I have seen. Didn't see big fuss about him then I watched the 98 world cup. That final against Brazil he was dominant. Also the goal in the final against leverkusen for me is still the best goal in a champions league final.

Great player shame he played for juventus and real madrid

Zizou... I could talk about him for years...

Clearly a special talent from the beggining but he wasn't clearly define to be a world beater like Messi or Tranny. Very hard worker too.

Besides all of his techniques etc... that everybody knows, it's how big he was and how he was a big game player and how bigs his bollocks were. Besides his average beggining in Euro 96, he won us the final in 98, he was totally at his best in Euro 2000 one of the best tournament performance that I saw, that game against Portugal in semi-final, putain...

Then in 2004, y'all knows the story against your team. And before WC2006, Zidane was kind of "critized", not really but actually some after stage groups thought about Zidane on the bench and having Henry with Trezeguet as strikers. Plus, Spanish were talking trash and saying send him to retirement, and were given lost. He scored on the last rush of the game and then his last masterpiece against his beloved Brazil :

Semi final of euro, stage group of euro, demi final and final of WC (panenka!). Whenever there was a big penalty to bail us out of shit he took it and nailed it.

His club haydays were actually in Juventus from 96 to 2001, in Madrid actually he was kinda selecting his games and performed his best in CL, until 2005, his last season was totally a "do fuck all"-one where all he was waiting was the World Cup.

Like 99% of french football fans, Zidane is the only man that could turn me gay. Yes, I said it.

Messi and Maradonna IMO couldn't and don't do stuff like these two have done.Personally cannot pick between the two but for me were the best.
