They sang some song about Liverpool fans always being the victims, they've not come out and condemned their supporters. Only a tiny minority I believe, sadly every club has them (although obviously they have more....)

If Fergusopn is actually telling the truth about wanting an end to such things, he should be loudly condemning it today. Let's see.

Imo, Ferguson tries to diffuse the hate filled atmosphere because Liverpool use it to raise their game v Utd & it makes his job harder.

He doesn't give a flying fuck about anything else.

Its obvious what'll happen at anfield scouse fans will sing about Munich and be vilified for it.

Nothing will be said about what happened yesterday at the swamp because they can just turn around and say it wasn't about that

Credit where credit's due

U*d released a statement after the match in response to the incidents.

"The club deplore it. The manager has made the club's position very clear on this matter," a statement read.

"It is now up to the fans to respect that."

Their Supporters Trust on the other hand deserve none:

"We did hear the usual anti-Liverpool chants at the match today but we're pleased to say, despite some reports to the contrary, there was nothing that was specifically referencing Hillsborough. "Any attempt to suggest otherwise is irresponsible given the forthcoming fixture between the clubs and furthermore risks needlessly upsetting the bereaved families

No mate, that's not Ferguson speaking, that's a set of words from 'the club' which still lets the so called supporters issue statements like the above.

The old cunt came out & asked for mutual respect etc, in public, just a few days ago & an end to this behaviour.

Let him now come out & voluntarily show his displeasure with those supporters who have directly gone against his wishes. If he speaks out directly, in public, against those fans & describes it for what it is, treating it with the same importance & showing his disgust, then fair play to him.

Until he does, my comment still stands.

I seem to remember us getting ripped apart after a few sang the Munich song during a Blackburn game last year or so. Why is this not the same and their fans castigated for far worse behaviour.

Seems they're reporting the apology, little about the actual behaviour. And that MUST statement is wrong in so many ways, basically saying it is OK because the poor mites hadn't realised it was a landmark week for Liverpool; it was just aimed at Suarez, my arse!

That someone was correct ...

Man Utd fans should be banned for Liverpool taunts - Joe Jordan
Supporters involved in tasteless chants at football matches should be banned for life, according to former Manchester United player Joe Jordan.
His comments came after a minority of United fans took part in anti-Liverpool taunts during the 4-0 win against Wigan, days after the report into the Hillsborough disaster was made public.

“What they come out with has nothing to do with a football match. Neither they nor I can imagine the pain those people have gone through”
Joe Jordan

"I can't quite get my head around why people come to football matches with that first and foremost on their minds," Jordan told BBC Sport.
"You have to eliminate it."
The former striker added that anyone found guilty of tasteless chants on Saturday should be "banned for life".
United released a statement after the Premier League match against Wigan saying they "deplored" the chants from fans at Old Trafford.
Earlier in the week, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson called for both United and Liverpool fans to end the terrace barbs against each other.
The teams meet next Sunday at Anfield.
"What they come out with has nothing to do with a football match," added former Scotland international Jordan.
"It's not getting at the players, it's getting at families. Neither they nor I can imagine the pain those people have gone through."
Jordan said he could not recall during his time as a United player ever hearing Liverpool fans chant about the Munich air disaster of 1958 that killed members of Manchester United's squad and coaching staff.
He added it was time to stamp out such behaviour.
"It's something that shouldn't really be happening," said Jordan, who played for United between 1978 and 1981.
The chants heard at Old Trafford included: "It's never your fault, it's never your fault, always the victims, it's never your fault."
But the Manchester United Supporters' Trust (MUST) insisted they were not a reference to the Hillsborough tragedy.
"Following this week's developments and release of revelatory information on the Hillsborough tragedy, MUST wishes to make it absolutely clear that, just as we condemn chants mocking the Munich air disaster, we also condemn any chants relating to Hillsborough, or indeed any other human tragedy," said MUST chief executive Duncan Drasdo.
"We did hear the usual anti-Liverpool chants at the match today but we're pleased to say, despite some reports to the contrary, there was nothing that was specifically referencing Hillsborough."
Ninety-six fans died on 15 April 1989, when Liverpool met Nottingham Forest in an FA Cup semi-final at Sheffield Wednesday's ground.
The findings of an independent report, released last week, cleared Liverpool supporters of blame for the deaths.

I think it would be fair to not play that as OT - that'd be like making us have a minute's silence for an ex-rag. Oh, hang on...

You'll always get idiots at every ground, including ours, but I would hope that there would be arguments in the crowd from right minded people who didn't approve. Haven't seen any press reports of those scuffles at the swamp, though
