Maybe he was trying to head it, maybe he did misread it, maybe he was trying to move because he wanted Hart to get a clearer view as the shot wasn't that hard. Who knows? It's the heat of the match and sitting on your coach rewinding Sky+ banging on about how it shit it from the ball doesn't tell half the story.

The man is one of the greatest centre backs in the world an, bar a few times when the defence was left exposed and the push on Ronaldo, had a decent game. Hardly time to drop him.

I don't think he was afraid of the ball, if that's what you're insinuating. He did, however, duck down. I guess he was trying to be clever & leave the ball to Hart, but it was a terrible blunder either way.

So was Kompany's duck the reason for the 3rd goal? Im trying to figure out why Hart's reaction time was so slow.....he didn't expect Vinnie to duck and that's why he reacted slowly?

All bar clichy were poor tonight. You cant let teams take pot shots at goal and expect to keep clean sheets.
We gave them far to much room around our box

Defensively. We were poor in pre season. We have been poor in the league this season. We were poor last night.

Lescott didn't play most of pre season and didn't play last night. Nasti only played last night. Kolo hasn't had any proper game time.

The only consistent factor's in our poor defending this season has been kompany and hart. Hart showed himself last night and stopped us getting the 5-0 bumming we deserved so its not him. Kompany has the ability as we all know, his head is obviously somewhere else. He was at fault for the third you only have to watch the goal and see him duck out of the way to see that, look at hart screaming at him after it. I remember lescott, Barry and kolarov at one time or another being fucking destroyed on here for ducking from a shot that has gone in and kompany shouldn't be spared the same treatment because he has been one of our worst players this season and unlike the others doesn't look to be improving atall game to game. He seems happy to be shit and needs fucking dropping until he gets his big fucking Frankenstein head back in his game.

Imo, we have put too much pressure on Vinny & we need to help him out.

He spent all summer travelling around being an 'ambassador' for the club, whilst people like Lescott were in the thick of it marking Balotelli etc.

Since he came back, he has played next to every fucker in all manner of weird lineups (except the actual back 4 that won us the league) & formations, & imo at the same time is feeling the weight of expectancy on his shoulders to make it all work because he is the captain/star defender. He is creaking under the weight of responsibility & needs a run of games with at least most of his proper partners next to him; to re-form the back unit.

If he doesn't get it, we have got problems imo, big, fucking, season ruining problems. We can sort this now if we get working on it.

I think it should be pointed out that players like C. Ronaldo and Balotelli have taken the technique of giving a shot top spin to a completely new level. The shot looked strange at first but it's pretty clear in the replays that it has a ridiculous top spin and sort of arches over Kompany, just enough not to touch him.

Shooting with top spin is very hard but if you manage to pull it off, which C. Ronaldo and Balotelli does occassionally, it's a very difficult to determine the ball's trajectory. I hope Kompany doesn't beat himself up about it.

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

You can say that if you want, but the point is he is the best defender in Europe when on form, so it is in our interest to do whatever it takes to get him there, & if you asked him, that wouldn't include playing between Maicon & a 19 year old kid, with a new midfield sat in front of him, at the Bernabau.

At this time he isint , there is no argument for that move ball is to fast to duck and he was in front of Hart who was sure he would clear it and when he did not Hart did not have the time to react , nom we have defence in bad shape that is clear but i would agree with Ted we are not always on same page but i think last night Le Scot should play you just dont give debut in this kind of game to somwone but also our defensive midefild have bad game so its not just defence.

We play too many games in a season to only have 1 set of defenders. They need to be interchangeable. We need a back line that can play the weekend game and then if not a whole new line for the midweek game atleast be able to swap 1 or 2 out. Getting them all settled into one system and working together would probably speed things p though instead of playing different line ups in different formations.

Last season lescott looked ok with other defenders. Vinny struggles when he doesn't have lescott next to him.

That's vinnies problem and if he can't adapt he can't start every game.

I'm not saying they should start every game, I'm saying they should have started more games as a back 4 unit & then rotated once everything was up & running. No way would this team have battered Spurs or the rags defending the way we are doing.

The basic defence needs sorting out before we start farting around swapping players & systems.

Hands off captain Vinnie! He had a very poor but still unlucky performance yesterday but we need him absolutely on the pitch!
