Poor game by his standards, but that was mostly due to the role he was asked to play tonight. Why Mancini continues to employ him in a def mid role I have no idea. He is at his best when running at defences and not when he is being shackled in front of the back four

Nige was a great stopper, Barry is a great game reader, Yaya is a brilliant attacking footballer. Garcia is probably a bit better than Nige once he settles in but basically a stopper, but imo what we need for 2 central midfield spots isn't a defender or an attacker, it's Colin Bell & Brian Robson. We need two great allround players.

We need to find two fantastic central midfield players who do a bit of everything not just one or the other. Until we do, everything is a compromise & there will always be something slightly missing.

Correct, we need a deep lying playmaker, De Rossi wouldn't come, Martinez went to Bayern we got the third choice and in Rodwell maybe the fourth. Time will tell if they're up to it, but De Jong is too limited a player for a top team. City legend though he is.
