Headers

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Headers

Postby Bluez » Thu Oct 25, 2012 5:22 pm

One thing I noticed last night was that any time an Ajax player got to a loose header in the middle of the pitch it almost always went to another Ajax player. Whereas almost every time a city player did the same thing it mostly went no where near a team mate.

It might seem like a small thing but it was a big reason why they kept the ball and we didn't. Do we practice keeping the ball by headers? It would seem a small thing which would have a big benefit.

For years I have ranted about numpty football. Those stupid things we seem have done over and over again and nobody seems to pick up on them at the club to stop them happening.

Blind headers that give the opposition is a crucial one, especially as our stylee is to keep the ball.
Another is to pass the ball all the way back from an potential attacking position to Hart, who then lumps his clearance back upfield to an opposing player. We may just as well rolled it to them in the 1st place.
Silly undisciplined fouls, those nonsense little niggly ones that give the opposition a free kick that allows them to set themselves up to attack us.
