We all presume that because he's a big guy, he can jump and head well. But I haven't seen him doing that a lot even when we are taking corner kicks. How many of those does he win ? If Micah's there you can be about 90% sure that he'll be the first to head the ball. Not Yaya !
Has he ever scored for us with a header. He must have, but I can't remember it ??

He should, but Yaya was identified as a defensive liability on many occasions last year.

Im all for criticising the players for not adapting, but if he genuinely isnt going to change, Mancini has to stop trusting him to do a job he is not going to do and play to his strengths, rather than expose his weaknesses. Absolutely the same goes for Dzeko.

Well said.

I understand what you're saying but the thing is he absolutely can defend. There should be NO excuses.

Well it seems he cannot in certain situations.

I picked up on this immediately, Nastasic noticed and tried to dive in ahead of Caulker. Yaya gave up FAR TOO EASILY. However, kudos to the lad for having the awareness. Hopefully he gets bigger and his presence becomes larger than those of the lazy bastards (Yaya especially) around him.

Get Yaya out of the penalty area, it's a simple as that as he is a absolute liability in there and we all know it, if the ball gets cleared & comes out of the box then he can break at his breath taking pace........or..........hold the ball because he very seldom loses possesion

Just doesn't Play to his full potential any way near enough but when he gets the ball and goes on a blistering run then he could go through a brick wall and produces the goods. Sometimes wonder why he doesn't get subbed when he looks half arsed but hen turns it on in a flash. I appreciate he can't work at this page all game.

Defensively? Poor very poor especially at set pieces. Might as well pop him in half way line try clear the ball in his direction and let him go bombing at defences!

Kolarov was the bloke originally marking, not Yaya. It's absolutely fair to criticise Yaya for not stepping in to do anything, as he could have done, but certainly Kolarov was even more guilty & Yaya shouldn't take all the blame.

For the likes of Joe, Vinny Zabba, attacking the ball is as strength we could and should be using, If I was the opposition, the thought that Yaya could be onto a clearance with Kun and Silva in support, is a plan changer, the normal set up of 2 plus 1 in front would soon be 5 at the back, plus a keeper,Job done on a few fronts.

I think that he is an incredible player when fully motivated - but he is a 'big game player' and does not always get motivated for 'lesser things' - such as marking at set plays

But I am in the camp that want us to work around his failings and keep him happy

That attitude is something I've never subscribed to, but with all of what we see from these top notch players, whilst they are at the very top of their profession, we maybe do expect them to be able to do things that is just not in their makeup, and expect this because they are on squill ions of pounds a week or considered he best in the world at what they do.

I may be mellowing as I get older, but thinking back to the likes of players we had in the past who were less talented, they had to make up for that lack of talent with balls out effort and because of this we accepted their limitations and were grateful for the positive things they did

It's a whole different ball game now though. We don't get the effort from some, but what they do in their main role, they do better or as well as anyone else in the world on the whole
