My View on Things

Postby Niall Quinns Discopants » Sun Jan 20, 2013 6:11 am

I haven't been posting on topic much for few months mainly because as reigning champions, I'm not going to get involved on dwelling in some fake-sadness. This season is our lap of honour and as Champions we should fully enjoy it, may not happen again.

I was disappointed with the way Champion's League ended, I'm not going to claim otherwise. League Cup was pretty meaningless. But I think we are finding our course again and I think we are going to give rags run for their money again. Mancini has always been really good in cup competitions and I think we are going to give FA Cup a good go.

With Pep gone and Mourinho struggling, can we finally try and concentrate on our positive future and give up this "everything, here, now" attitude?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I'm not trying to be unduly obnoxious, but what's the point of this thread?

What's the point of any thread? To voice my opinnion and perhaps to try and get people pumped up about our recent results and the fact that we are reigning champions.

I've just literally laughed out loud twice in this thread - I think it's earned a right to exist.

We can give the rags a run for their money certainly. One of the main stumbling blocks, Arsenal away, (which I thought Bob would fuck up) has gone, & Bob came through with flying colours. We are probably going to have to win at Goodison, WHL and the swamp as well in order to win the title though. Possible but difficult & one more defeat anywhere may finish us unless the rags slump.

A lot more possible now we are starting to look a bit more like City again though.

My problem with this season isn't anything to do with trophies. I never particularly demanded or expected them. I wanted progression, an upward curve in our performance level that sees us moving forward for the future. What I've seen is a big drop in standards compared to the start of last season. Very very disappointing, & imo not good enough at all.

If we redeeem that in the 2nd part of the season then I will be happy enough trophies or not.

I think the whole team, plus Mancini & his staff, have been swanning around on the open top bus with NQDP & are just realising that the rags have been in a title race whilst they were doing it.

I understand where you're coming from mate, due to our poorer game play compared to last years success you didn't feel the need to argue the point. Now that we're getting back to winning consecutive games and playing better football you want to now express your enjoyment of the game.

Nothing wrong with that pal, each to their own I say. I'm just hoping your new found joy doesn't give us the jinx.

well funny enough(lol) I was going to post something similar to the Discopantoman. i reckon since Norwich away the pattern of play has been a big improvement on the season up to then. We are using the whole width of the pitch, passing much more quickly, playing more adventurous and risky passes and the strikers are making some good wide and channel runs. The interplay is a lot slicker. If this is down to Bob seeing the problem(if he couldnt at Everton, Reading and Sunderland he would have to be blind) and working on it in training as Doug's reports would seem to intimate then full marks. And not a 3 at the back in sight. One thing for sure we are not missing Ya Ya cos Silva is now inside left rather than right wing and not astonishingly is far more influential. And Jimmy, a regular in Ya Ya's absence, is flourishing.Imo, Bob needs to think about Ya Ya's role when he returns. To my eyes he's better not touching the ball til he scores ala Platty rather than taking it deep and slowing play down. But that is for another debate. So delighted with things at the mo, and yes I believe we can chase the Rags down so long as we match their energy, pace and determination. Were much the better squad. De Gea will continue to cost them.Feck me, even Garcia improves game by game.In his favour he always tries to pass forwards. So well done Bob.

His view is we are going to do well in all the competitions we haven't already been knocked out of. It's a fairly radical view, and there isn't a thread called "how confident are you?" for this kind of thing, so it definitely needs its own thread. And if you ask nicely he might even fit you a kitchen.

Open top bus bollox call me greedy whatever but if i hadn't seen such riches i could live with being poor.

I want to win this league again and the players have been coasting if we realised the league had started we would be out front with a lot more points than those rags.
