So what are you left with since the day he left 15 years ago, next month. Which of his 20 victories stand out for the ages?

He was fucking useless and Joe Royle and the Wardle/Makin/Tueart/(Bernstein for a while, Keegan for a while, Pearce for a while) axis stabilised the club. Don't insult our intelligence, or your own.

Clark is the only head I've ever called for.

Now I'm mad at myself for rising to your bollocks thread.

So tell me.....cos I dont understand twitter.

If you are positing on mcfc.net, why do you put a hashtag in front of stuff? Is it the cool thing to do, or is there an actual purpose to it?

On here it is of no use at all (not that I've discovered anyway) ... is it cool? probably not as cool is reserved for things that are ... er ... cool, like Smoking

Two things stand out from the Frank Clark era.

1) The amount of times we learned he liked to play the guitar - who gives a shit, we were trying to win football matches, not start a fookin band

2) The propensity we had for signing Georgian centre halves who looked like Jimmy Nail - Shelia, Tshkadadggnaannseze ... aghh whatever his name was, he was shite anyway.

I honestly can't remember him as a manager. I remember King of the Kippax issues with his face on (one, I believe, had him as Mr Potato Head), so I must've been to games when he was our boss, but can never remember thinking "Frank Clark is our manager". I probably have stronger memories of him at Notts Forest.

Oddly, I attach memories to Phil Neal - perhaps because I only attended one game with him in charge, which would have been one of my first matches.

Edit: it was my first City match. 2-1 defeat away to Oldham just before Christmas.

I was at that game too, forever engraned in my brain reminding me of just how far we have come from the dark days, although we used to go and sit behind the goals at Maine road (we were younger then) and shout abuse at the goalkeepers... Woooaaaaaahhhhh you fat wanker.

That same point, that there was a powerful 5th column inside City that was stopping progress, was made by a succession of managers who came and went over a number of years. For a long time, I just put it down to sour grapes from sacked mangers.

Quite a number of years after he left, John Bond gave an in depth interview and was asked about this issue. He explained how there was a powerful group of personalities embedded (possibly shareholders) at the club surrounding Swales. They influenced player buying and selling, tactics and team selection as well as the day to day running of the club. Bond said he had been a coward and should have stood up to them but didn't. He made it plain that City would never progress while they were at the club. Alan Ball also made similar comments.

It was during the Bernstein era that the issue came up again, when certain personalities were pushed out of the club (possibly paid off) and it was announced publicly that City had removed the 5th column from the club.

I was told other stuff around that time that seemed to be ridiculous then but which now seem to make sense and explain some of the more outlandish events around those times.

You're right! I read this last night when I was pissed and I was furious. There is absolutely nothing to be salvaged from Frank Clark's time in charge in terms of nostalgia.

Remember that time we made that thread to look back on Frank Clark's era and pick our favourite moment? That was my favourite moment when I realised how many years he'd been gone.

And you guys should know better than to rise to Dev's bullshit.
