The more they do it, the more it has a destabilising affect on the crowd, especially when things are not going right. I vividly remember the Hughes games where he got sacked. Nobody was talking about the game, many were too busy watching Hughes in the dug-out and how he reacted to everything that happened. It's an extreme case but one that was built up by the media weeks before.
