Driving is cheaper and more convenient - especially in this situation. Unfortunately, means that one person can't drink.

£80 for one car to go down with 4/5 people in it is cheap as chips, it would cost near that for one person just on the train alone.
£10 for the M6 toll fee as its a quicker route with less traffic (you could choose to avoid it!)
£5 parking for the day at Canons Park tube station which is 3 stops away from Wembley Park.
Tube Fare - £3.00 rtn with an oyster card or £8.80 without.
£35 each = some left over for some drinks in the pub

I was designated driver for the semi, my mate drove down, he then drank whilst I stayed sober and I drove his car back. We were back for 11pm after setting off in the car at 7 - which isn't bad going, with 2 stops and a drop off on the M40.

Still a shitty KO time, would rather it was earlier as I cba driving back really late as well as having been up since 5am.

Guys - treat the missus to some shopping in London and in exchange she can drive a car full of blues back after the game ;) the money you all save from not getting the train can go towards her shopping kitty!

you're dramatically underestimating the costs of driving.
Cost of petrol maybe, but you can at least double your figures if you take into account the real costs (ask the AA)
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

Nope, I drove last week from the wirral and back (an extra 50 miles further than manchester) and we put £82 of fuel into the car and there was just under a 1/4 tank left - even paying £35 for me to be insured on the car. there was 4 of us, we paid £35 each into the kitty, there was £15 left when we got home. Why would i be factoring i road tax or breakdown cover or insurance, when thats already paid for, and its just the fuel for the journey to wembley that needs to be considered?

I've just had my ticket confirmed anyway, so I'll be there again!
