Would players not rather have a medal around their neck or would they rather say to te kids and grand kids "hey I qualified for the champions league in 2013" wow.......all about the money eh.
You talk a lot of sense Sis. Really makes me sad too
The FA Cup in 2011 gave me two of the happiest days on my life that I would not swap for anything. It’s so sad that the FA Cup now holds no value and is regard as micky mouse (you will hear this a lot if we win it). As a child my fondest memories of football were watching the FA cup and the whole day build up. I know City we not involved but I just loved the day, showing the players on the coach weaving their way to the stadium and all that. All that is now lost forever. What with 5.15pm KOs and it no longer being the last game of the season, all tradition has gone.
You are absolutely spot on Sis. I echo your sentiment entirely.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

It really should though.
People get runners up medals in all sorts of things. I can't see why they don't hand them out in the league.

Silver medals in the Olympics are rightly prized, FA Cup runners-up medals get put in the cabinet as mementos by players for whom an appearance at Wembley is the highlight of an undistinguished career, but there's no tradition for medals for 2nd in the League, players would throw them away.

A sobering thought, PD.
With regard to the FA Cup, it was dealt a difficult blow when the old Cup Winners Cup Competition was phased out by those knowledgeable 'experts' in Europe.

Well done. I aappreciated it.
I really really want to win the FA cup. I'm not poking at it with a stick as if it's roadkill. I respect it.
My point is just that everyone has a boner for second. Big fucking woooop. 2nd or 3rd. We still lost the league and no they don't give you a trophy for showing up.
Lookmum has a great idea tho. I wonder if Gillie could mock up a "losers medal" for whomever gets 2nd?

I don't think that's a fair assesment of the importance of CL. You have a point that's a bit weird that people actually celebrate coming fourth rather than fifth and yes, it has a lot to do with the money. But, the CL is also about squaring off against the best teams and players in the world, at least for me as a fan. I love seeing City play in the CL regardless of the money.
I do however agree with you that the league is and should be top priority for the team and I do think it is. However, you could also see it as we finished runner's up (not finished yet though...) and then got the added bonus of playing in the CL.
So in summary, I sympathize with your view but find it a bit too simplified and skeptic.
So your saying you would rather finish in a Champions league spot than win silverwear??
"I do however agree with you that the league is and should be top priority for the team and I do think it is". Guess from whose post that quote is?
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"
"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.

i blame the rest of the premier league, lieing down when the scum play them and some of the performances against the rags are truely abysmal, eg QPR v CITY a team that absolutely gave it all, QPR V Rags just fuckin llet them run riot.
It's almost like they don't mind being beaten by them. Too much respect and fear.
Against us the managers and players just want to beat us as if its a major scalp. I think teams would rather beat us than the rags as they see it as a bigger victory with the superstars we have.
How many players and fans have you heard mention its a dream to play against players Yaya and Aguero. Speaks volumes.
