Based on one season at Blackburn where they finished 6th? What about George Burley? What a great manager he is, no?

He had Blackburn playing pretty entertaining (albeit quite physical) footy. The situation at Stoke is pretty similar in terms of resources and personnel, so I reckon it might work.

His record of getting good players on reasonable wages for £1.5M-£6M is actually quite good. Those are the players Stoke will be in the market for.

Dont think he'd be worse than Pulis to be fair, may actually get them playing a bit of football as opposed to the rugby Pulis turfed out.

Expect similar mid table mediocrity for the Stokies - probably right fit for the sloggers and thugs they have playing for them.

A good match and they won't have to have a complete turnover of players. I think he'll do OK.

Mark Hughes at Stoke news conference: “My intention is to take the club forward and take the team forward and make sure we are successful.”

Nah, flirt with relegation year after year. It's more exciting than mid-table tedium.
