I'd say it's a 'stereotype', not a 'stigma' when 3% of the (legal) economy and 11-12% of tourist money are estimated to be spent in the sex industry. Also, the 0.4% statistic you give, I believe, refers only to prostitutes, not people smugglers, pimps, barstaff or anybody else who works in and around the industry.

Figures are still a lot less than you would think from the language you use, and you are one of the biggest culprits when it comes to this subject. The vast majority of Thai tourism has nothing to do with the sex industry. Your lazy stereotyping does you no credit.
