Tbh, although you are a permanent wum, you are right on this imo; it's better for building a quality team, to be able to learn your weaknesses during a season & act accordingly re signings, rather than try to guess it all pre season.
And if teams keep some of their transfer money back, in order to strengthen during the season, it means more opportunities for young players in the meantime & perhaps no need to spend, because a young player comes through instead.
