Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

At the moment we are completely reliant on Kompany who, great player though he is, seems also to be made out of glass.

Its not a good position to be in. Every time we line up Garcia at centre half, a little bit of me dies inside.

Can we stop comparing Kompany's injury record with Micah's please, it is ridiculous. He has made 200 appearances in 5 years! Hardly "made of glass!" Nonsense to talk of replacing him too, if you were to start a search of the world for centre backs who are proven at the very top level, you would look at him age 27 with that appearance record and put him top of the list!

This is great news if he is fit for the derby. I'm sure the rag fans will be gutted.

Will be interesting to see how we play once he is back in he team. Will the midfield feel more secure so push forward more? Zabba hasn't been at his best this year and I can only think this is because he always has an eye on the players next to him at cb knowing he WILL have to cover them at some point.
Anyway here's hoping

I'm not sure a gone has compared them. However, over the last three seasons, Kompany has had periods out with muscle strains, so it's obviously something he's susceptible to. We therefore need to have back up ready. Before we bought Demichelis, the only right footed cover was Richards, who was already injured.

With Kolo leaving, we should have been looking for a right sided centre half all summer, or been confident that Garcia, Rodwell or Yaya would be adequate cover. The panic buy of Demechelis (for £4m more than we could have had him for two months earlier) suggests we weren't confident or prepared.

If it was my money, I'd be asking questions.

So the persistant toe injury, then the shin injury, then the calf strain that lingered for 6 months, now the month long groin pull were all figments of our imagination were they?

Hes absent way too often, and when he is we suffer. Throw in the suspensions of 2011/12 season as well and hes missed umpteen games when hes been badly needed.

Suspensions are an occupational hazard for defenders, it would be harsh to criticise them (unless they pull a Barton) - it's their job to tread a fine line and they can be expected to cross it from time to time.

And they are to be expected. You'd therefore expect to have some cover. Add in the injury problems Richards has always had and the various ones which Kompany has had over the last couple of seasons and a right sided defender would make sense. They'd also provide an alternative to Zabba if he's missing considering Richards' issues.

Demechelis was brought in, but that hardly looked planned

Cardiff game aside, we've got away with it somehow, but we will get punished if Kompany isn't back soon
