The view from the Away End...

Image

First of all, I can’t tell you how much self-control I have shown with this picture, given that the spuds have a giant cock on their shirts. Moving on, the away fans are very chatty this week, but not very optimistic. There are some of them that are predicting a ‘miracle’ win, but mostly they are expecting us to continue our fine home form. Not much talk about playing Joe or Panti, which surpises me a little. It seems their lack of goals this season is having an effect on them!

I am glad you are enjoying this thread, and appreciate the kind words. With that said, I am expecting a good result on Sunday, and here is the view from the away end:

Team Selection

Lloris
Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Vertonghen
Sandro, Capoue
Lennon, Paulinho, Townsend
Soldado

My Favourite

Mullered

And the rest...

Play a solid team we can trust. Then go for it late on.

Kaboul has to play ahead of Dawson can't afford two slow centre backs versus a quick city team

What a place to go and bounce back from that defeat, come on you spurs, let's be havin you, lamela must start!!

We will play the same style team selection and tactics that we have struggled with against the shit sides that we've managed a measly 9 goals against. Now we're playing a good side we are gonna get seriously mugged off.

It seems Citeh are two different sides, home and away.

I don't think we'll ever score a goal again, so shooting for the nil-nil draw

Not worth banging the drum anymore on 2 strikers! Can't see AVB doing it soon and certainly not at the Etihad!

Also think Townsend needs a game on/from the bench to bring him back down to earth, Lamela ain't gonna do no worse and if he puts in a display against a so called big club, it's only gonna help!

Dreading the fooker

If we ever play a formation with two strikers then Adebayor should be the one to partner Soldado
Won't fucking go where I want them but its a 4-3-3 with pace and width from Lennon and Lamela! and from the backs when the wings push central. There will be no miserable winger cutting in and shooting every other dribble. Holtby and Paulinho to press for possession high and Sandro to seek and destroy and push the ball to the flying wingers. Chiriches and Kaboul both have the ability to move forward with the ball and pass out of the back as does Jan, and Walker links much better with Lennon than Andros (I'm Gareth fuckin Bale) Townsend.

Adebayor comes on at 75m to net the winner. 3-2 Spurs and the flood of scoring commences. By Christmas we are 2nd. By NYD top o the fucking league. We can't come against a Krul every week.

This will be a fascinating game. City are excellent at home, we are excellent away. They can't stop scoring but leak too many goals, we are defensively strong but don't score enough.

I think we need to be realistic and start with a solid set up. I would do something quite radical in this game and play Townsend down the left. He will still carry his attacking threat but if he plays down the left then he will be putting in far more crosses and cut backs thus giving Soldado half a chance. I would start Lennon on the right so we have 2 wingers who will put in a shift and track runners but also be lightening on the break.

This game will be a complete blowout: 4-0 Spurs. Lamela scores a hat trick in the first half, Soldado breaks through in the 46', and then Sandro, Capoue, and Zeki are subbed into the midfield to ice the game.

We may have a sniff with Silva out. That prick Nasri always saves his best for us though, cocksucker.
Good news loris & chiriches played 90 mins tonight and presumably fit for Sunday.

What is the view on Hart. I thought he had a good game tonight and cannot decide from our point of view if it is a good thing if he gets a recall Sunday. On the other hand whoever plays in goal against us will play a blinder!

I never question Hart's talent. What he's going through is part of the difficulties that make a player better or worse, but he's a top goalie

I think this could be the game where we finally come unstuck and get shown up. 3-0 City, I hate to say.

City have played around with a few formations this season, but one common theme seems to be that Pellegrini likes them to defend in two very straight banks of four when not in possession- very low block, leaving no wriggle room between their midfield and defence.

For this reason, IMO, AVB must not try and go all-out compression with his tactics, because they will soak it all up, our creators and Soldado won't find a yard of space anywhere, and they will sting us. We have to make this an open game so they're tempted to lose their shape.

I have a bad feeling about this game.

City's form at home has been impressive.

I can see them easily scoring 3 goals.

The reason I feel a crumb of comfort going to The Etihad is that we are bound to have plenty of opportunities to break, Silva and Kompany injured...But Aguero/Negredo partnership is superb, they do worry me a lot.

I would also agree that Sandro and Dembele would be my midfield choice with Holtby...and if, for some reason Townsend started left and Lennon or Lamela on the right, that would be pleasing too.

I'm quietly confident for this game. Toure as great a player as he is is integral for City and he's not used to likes of Sandro who will make him disappear. Kaboul has earnt a start, that's for sure and he is our best hope of dealing with Aguero and Negredo. AVB won't leave Lamela out again because he knows if we then lose the pressure from the fans on him will be too much and sometimes you have to just go with them. Townsend will finally have space to get an assist and Holtby's pressing on a defense lacking confidence will be lethal to them. All this will result in plenty of chances for Soldado who will get a brace. Pauliniho will have been revived by his games with Brazil and do plenty of running, getting an assist whilst putting in a MOTM performance. Lloris is seriously p!ssed off after going out to Ukraine/hyped after being the sole reason France reached Brazil and as such refuses to concede a goal.
I'm not half as worried about midfield as I am defence. These are the sort of games Daws is vulnerable to having a 'mare. The pace and skill of Aguero, the movement and technique of Negredo, the strength and height of Dzeko. We need Verts and Kaboul back there with Rose & Walker either side for our best chance. Keep it tight at the back, snatch a goal on the break. Job done.

IMO we are going to get embarrassed by this lot.

Thanks CuteMancs ... keep it going, enjoy reading It all in one place!

Their reaction seem to be exactly like ours ... some feeling it'll be a 3-0 or 4-0 to us and some thinking 0-1 to them ... no in between, could go either way, and both sets of fans unsure whether to be excited about this or be afraid of this, sitting on fence basically!

Bit surprised they are not more optimistic, especially considering our difficulties.

Father in law is a spuds fan. He went last week against Newcastle and though they lost spuds battered them. If not for Krul they'd have won convincingly and are probably due a bit of luck in front of goal. He is quite optimistic given our unstable defence

I predict it'll be either 5-3, or 5-4 to City.

Oy vey, thanks again, CuteMancs.

A 1-0 win for City sounds about right.

I like this one

This is what I said a few weeks ago.
We look like a man who lives in a cardboard box who has bought himself a 42" TV,a three piece suite and a new kitchen - Lots of shiny new things but without the faintest idea of where they are all going to fit in.
It's in AVB's hands now.He has to accept that his preferred system is not benefitting the players individually or as a team,so he has to adapt or face the consequences.
As for Soldado,I increasingly think that the hierarchy (not just AVB) wanted a "name" striker and that the small matter of playing a system to suit him wouldn't really have been a problem in their eyes.

And this one

Mjbmedia the point you are missing is that these players aren't good enough this season, next season or whatever season. Lamela is not a premier league player, powerpuff, Pauline is a footballing donkey, chadli is not even worth talking about, soldado is increasingly not looking cut out for English football, slow powerpuff, but I'll give him the benefit of crap service, eriksen is a quality player but seems shot to bits. Verts has spat his dummy out playing left back, Townsend thinks he's bale but he's not, Dawson is finished at the top level as he's far to slow and can't read the game, walker has got worse, dembele should be the best midfielder in the prem with toure but he's shot to pieces, sandro is limited but effective, holtby is a nothing player at the minute he has to play deeper, lloris best keeper in prem but all the media focus seems to have got to him, Lennon is effective when given the ball early, ade is the most complete forward we have but been treated poorly and same goes for Defoe. No cohesion week to week in selection and AVB has the cheek to blame fans who fork out £70 a ticket to watch drivel passed side to side along the back.

Nice to see them in meltdown as they can be the smuggest of twats when things are going right for them

I've found Spurs a lot more difficult to dislike since Redknapp went. Same goes for Everton with Moyes.
Let's hope Spuds pull it together next week mind.

I suppose the converse can also occasionally apply; for instance, I've always liked West Ham and I don't now dislike them just because Big Fat Sam is at the helm (even though I do find him to be a thoroughly obnoxious individual).

Mind you, I despise the Scum just as much as ever, even though Gollum has replaced Taggart and could be said to be marginally less detestable than his predecessor.
