FA Retrospective Action Rule Changed

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

"Also, where off-the-ball incidents are concerned, the policy adjustment will allow action to be taken where an act of misconduct could not have been seen by the match officials, even though they may have seen some part of the players coming together"

Ted Hughes wrote:I would just alert everone to the wording of that.

Read it carefully.

They have once again left a huge ref's grey area to enable Clattenburg to 'miss' Rooney's over the top two footed, potentially career ending lunge & protect him afterwards, & ban Kolarov for 3 games for pushing somebody off the ball in a handbags incident.

See how it works now ? This is exactly what I was talking about. The ref cards Rooney to make sure everyone knows he has seen it.

Someone at the FA with a bit of balls could still force action here but what are the chances ? They have a 'get out' clause.

David Silva or Nasri/Aguero etc will get a ban at some point down to this.

I've read that wording numerous times and I still can't figure out exactly what it means.

Seems it's as you were, make it up as they go along.

That's the whole point, that's why I flagged it.

It's a cop out, allowing the refs to bottle the big decision but protect their favourites from action at the same time.

We have already been 'done' retrospectively on numerous occasions in the past, as Slim pointed out, without this rule being in place.

They could 'do' Rooney if they wanted to, but do they want to ?

The clause they deliberately leave in these things gives them an excuse if they don't fancy the hassle.

I see nothing's been done about Shrek's kick. Surprise surprise.
I just don't get it, it was a clear kick. What's even more confusing is how the Cardiff manager defended it saying the ref handled it well.
Ah well.

Just the same situation as with most big name England players. The FA is shit scared of 'persecuting' them for fear they will fuck the national team off in retaliation. Rooney has got away with too many of these over the years for it to be a coincidence, and I don't believe for a second it's related to who he plays for in the league that is the deciding factor.

It's 100% down to his commercial value to the FA why he never gets retrospectively done......these bent fuckers aren't so stupid as to alienate their only genuine 'box office' player

Didn't it all come out a little while ago that Shearer was similarly protected after he threw his toys out of the pram with the FA for a similar thing?

Very surprised Miralles hasn't been done. A very late, very high 'tackle' as he was nowhere near the ball. A challenge red cards were introduced for

Any chance they might go after little Chick pea for what he just did against Tiote ? And then an outrageous dive ?
