Neither of our options are the long-term solution and our priority for the closed season must be to bring in a top class partner for Vinnie.

I hope there is a U-turn. Lescott is 31, he still has another 2/3 years he could offer us. Same with Barry. I don't see why we would ship these players out when they are easily good enough to be at least squad players and would provide great depth and experience to the squad.

For example, who here was happier with DM at defensive midfield against Chelsea rather than Barry?
Let's not make the same mistake with Lescott.

You are completely forgetting that both players want to play every week , hence them both deciding to fuck off to get first team football.

If we are going to replace Lescott, actually replacing him with someone better than him would be an interesting experiment.

Boateng, Savic, Nastasic, Demichelis. How much does that add up to I wonder ? And now it will probably cost us another 30 mil on top.

Very true.

Unfortunately, because Vinnie is usually the best defender on the pitch and sets a great example to others, the desire to get another one of him isn't easy, nor does it come cheap.

I think Lescott will go at the end of the season and we will be in for a top central defender.

Agree with that. Unfortunately we have four competitions to win or lose and so he will remain a big topic of discussion until the season ends.

So you agree that Lescott is the best partner for Vinny then for the rest of this season?

For Carl to agree Lescott is the best partner says so much about the alternatives.

Doug Mancini fucked things up last season by breaking up the league winning partnership.Joleon has'nt really had a look in since but showed on Saturday what we and Vinny have missed since.
