You do you're homework because you're wrong. Sunderland have not qualified for the Europa league.

It's never been the case though that the League Cup runners up get the Europa League/UEFA Cup spot if the winners have already qualified for Europe though has it?

I know that's the case for the FA Cup, but the League Cup's Europa League/UEFA Cup spot has always been allocated to a league position if the winners have already qualified, such as when United beat Wigan in 2006. Even when Villa lost a couple of years ago in the final, they 'officially' went into the Europa League because of their 6th place finish, not because of being runners up in the League Cup. It was just coincidence they finished both 6th and runners-up in the League Cup.

I need to read-up on it to 100% confirm but think that's right. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

"Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League."

That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.

It's changed a few times but generally that has been the case more often than not. Who cares we're the winners and we will be in the Champions league again anyway.

I havent read the rules, but I am 95% certain that what Aaaron has said is correct, as far as I am aware, we have made it more plausible for Utd to play on a Thursday ha ha ha ha

Could be right, but there is ambiguity all over the shop here, even the Sun have reported "It's likely 6th will be a Europa League spot" Section 2.04 of UEFA's regulations says it goes to Sunderland, but I am not sure UEFA control who the English FA send into Europe.

It's fairly simple guys ... the domestic cup winner gets to go to Europa League and if they have already qualified for Champions League then the runners-up from the cup takes that place in the Europa ...

England however is unique as we have TWO domestic cups ... so our arrangement with UEFA is that FA Cup is treated as the big brother and same as other Cups in Spain (Copa del Rey), Italy (Coppa Italia) and Germany (DFB Pokal) etc ... so the FA Cup winners get Europa, and if they have already qualified for CL, then the FA Cup runners-up gets their spot in Europa ... the little brother (our second domestic cup) the League Cup, however only gets a Europa spot for the winner ... and if the winner already has a CL spot, then instead of the runner-up the next highest position in the league gets that, which will be 6th in PL ...

Technically, according to country's UEFA coefficient points, England has top four spots for CL and next two for Europa League ... and one spot in EL for the domestic cup (FA Cup) winner ... We have then negotiated with UEFA and to give some importance to our second domestic cup (the CapitalOne Cup), we have instead chosen for the second EL spot to be given to this cup winner, instead of next two spots in the league, but it reverts to that in case winner has already qualified for Europe elsewhere.

Coming up in the FA Cup now, if both winner and the runners-up are anyone from 1-6 in the league, then that spot will also go to next highest position in the league i.e. 7th in the Premier League ...

Hope it clarifies all!

Excellent post. So if we play Everton/Arsenal in final then Utd will be in Europa league even of they finish seventh?

Well he did mention money as an excuse in one of the first sentences out of his mouth...

Really? I'm disappointed. He can be added to the 'c***s list', now.

Komps tackle on Borini was perfect and he redeemed himself for the earlier mess, kept us truly in the game.
Terrible mess of a free kick but thankfully Yaya's brilliance made amends, WOW what a shot, trigger pulled and BOOM!!!!!!!!

Pants distribution spot on throughout and excellent ball to Serg and top bombing forward by the lads for Narsi's clinical strike. Just shows the difference getting the ball forward so quickly can do!

Wish Komps little effort at doing a Tuart had gone in!

Yayas break forward and inch perfectly timed pass to Navas a joy to watch.

BRILLIANT JUST BLOODY BRILLIANT! !!!

HAPPY MONDAY! :-)

Correct ... and Scum fans are praying for that, as it is highly likely they'll finish in 7th and not 6th this season ...

But qualifying 7th will mean an earlier round entry so they will start flaying to Eastern Europe and Russia and Israel etc. in July itself ... bye bye any pre-season preparations and bye bye any money spinning tours ...

Knowing their luck they'll probably get an
