Remember the 56.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Remember the 56.

Postby Slim » Sun May 11, 2014 9:40 am

I know this day is poised to be a celebration of our club, but lest we forget on this day back in 1985 the Bradford City fire took 56 lives.

Horrible tragedy and may it never be repeated.

Well said Slim, I remember it so vividly just watching in disbelief. Football may be tribal but we all as fans can empathise when our fellow fans die unnecessarily just going to support their team. Where I Iive in Ireland, football is not that heavily supported by true fans as hurling and Gaelic football and even rugby would have greater followings so it is always nice to sit and chat with true fans from other clubs, just simply to talk football with someone that knows what they are talking about. That's when I realise that we all share the same love, it's just the badge that separates us. That even goes for the rags. Strange as it may sound
Hoping our new rollercoaster gives us the thrill of our lives.

Takes events like this to put the big picture into perspective and things like tribal allegiances pale into insignificance.

Remember coming out of the cinema and wondering whether we had got promoted and was chuffed with our 5-1 v Charlton. Then it very quickly soured when heard about the fire. Awful tragedy. As bad as anything in society, let alone football

And that's the difference isn't it a city fan reminds everyone about Bradford. Nothing mentioned by Liverpool fans when rogers was using their tragedy to motivate his players of course. Fair play to the guy posting this.

City fans on twitter have tweeted that it would be fitting to do a round of applause in the 56th minute as a mark of remembrance for those who died.

Good post slim. Was a terrible terrible thing to happen. I cannot even begin to understand how those people felt. Thoughts are with them.

So easy to forget when we're only told to respect two disasters in the football world!

There's no money in it for them AND it doesn't fit with their agenda. Also, it happened at a time before they covered football therefore it doesn't exist.
