Vieira Visits Bayern.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Do you think it would've been reported by the Mail (or anyone else for that matter) if Jason Wilcox was the one visiting Bayern? Honest question.

Vieira is a celebrity. Reports in Germany/Austria have been limited to "Alaba meets his idol, world cup winner Vieira and takes a picture". The mail is doing the usual 1+1 for clickbait and we are having essays and wild speculation on this non-story here?

Also, the last thing I will do is look for other examples, because, frankly I cannot be arsed and don't see how a non-existence of further non-stories could prove anything in any way.

Coaches share.

Yes we have a friendly relationship with Pep.

Can't believe the energy you've put into this thread Tedward.

Pick up a book or laser tag or mini golf or go-karting.

Yes they do, all the time, usually via phonecalls, internet, a stroll down the road to the ground, breakfast, curry, pint etc..

Not very often flying across the fucking continent mid season to do so, unless they see it as important, which it clearly is for Vieira & probably City.

Joan Laporta will stand in the 2016 Barcelona presidential election and the former club chief plans to bring back Pep Guardiola as sporting director.

Laporta led Barca to 12 titles in his first mandate between 2003 and 2010, hiring current Bayern Munich boss Guardiola as first-team coach in 2008 for what would be the most successful spell in the club's history. Just a report from Marca in Jan. don't shoot the messenger.

Well I think Pep going back is ten times more likely than our two going back, however, here is what Pep had to say:

Pep Guardiola, the Bayern Munich coach, says he will never return to take charge of former club Barcelona. “In principle I won’t coach Barça again,” he told Mundo Deportivo. “I think that there are cycles in life and that mine [at the club] finished.”

His tenure in charge of Barcelona ended when he announced a 12-month sabbatical from football in spring 2012 to “recharge his batteries”. In July 2013 he lashed out at his former employers, saying: “I told them [the president and his directors] I was going 6,000km away and asked them to leave me in peace – but they haven’t kept their word.”

The 43-year-old says he might eventually return to Catalonia permanently but it will be to reside with his wife Cristina Serra, who he married earlier this year, and not to return to Barça: “My wife has her work and the idea is to come back and live here [in Barcelona]. But I don’t know when that will be.”

The quotes is correct, they will be long gone Ted, that is the purpose of the election, and why Laporte could be back at the helm. He could also lose. Pep will always be Barca, Just as Pique could end up as a future President of the club.

it's not exactly a trek to ant-fucking-arctica to get to Munich from Manc is it? EasyJet. Print your boarding pass. Pack light. Boom. You're all set. In and out same day if you choose the right airline, 4 hours with Pep to pick the brain of the most trophy-laden coach in the last decade. Not exactly fucking conspiracy theory type shit dude.

And if he wants they can have a curry and a pint the night before and finish it off with a nice Port and a fat cigar before taking in training the next day.

cheers

What happened to the assistant coaches at Barca when Pep left? Just wondering if he takes a team with him has a new one at Batten. Also, how important the assistant coach job was at Barca. What was Villenova beforehand?

To agree with Ted, I've not seen anything like this before. I know some out of work managers have done a tour of clubs previously to learn something, but never this sort of thing. That said, we visited a number of clubs to work out how to do the new training centre, so maybe the clubs are more open to each other than we think.

They undoubtably share stuff, just not very often like this.

I think we pretty much all know that if we are 100% honest, & take out the 'for the sake of argument'. factor. This is unusual.

If it happened in a mirror image, it would create quite a stir on here.

Is Paddy the next Bayern Coach or was it just Bayern and City building bridges.

Which one's on top? I think we know and I think it could end badly for Pep.

In the piece I have just posted in the England U17s thread, Vieira way back in 2012, sets out his vision for how the coaching system in this country should be, mentions the word 'project' & then refers to how Barcelona started putting it in place 30 years ago.

Round about then, we appointed two blokes from Barca to run the club, & now we have Vieira travelling to Munich mid season, to take tips from Pep Guardiola.

But of course none of that is significant; he will be hanging on Fat Sam's every word next week, & then flying over to Spain to pick the brains of David Moyes the week after.

His meeting with Guardiola has no significance for the club, whatsoever.

He is obviously going over there to get instructed on the groundwork for the youth team so they can play in Pep's team come 2016.

No doubt right now he is back instilling the new philosophy in the youth teams in such an insidious way that it won't raise any red flags with Pellegrini.

Pep is currently running Bayern into the ground so when we get them in our annual CL group meeting, we'll be able to destroy them and top the group.

Now everyone tilt back on your chairs and laugh evilly, if you want to do that thing with your fingers like Mr Burns, go where the moment takes you.

I think it may be equally the case, that he is getting a few pointers from Pep, re moving from reserve team coach to first team coach & how it was, in his experience.

One of them will probably be managng City in a few years' time. Or possibly both.

I still reckon Pep is asking Paddy, how do you keep hammering us at under 19 level.
