I think we are getting ahead of ourselves with "last englishmen who plays in Europe", after he manage to take part in 7 games all season long and tonight he did not take part in what Fiorentina did.

I love Micah to bits, but he will never reach again the form he had in 2011.

Watching Inter tonight, as Wolfsburg ran through their empty midfield on the break time and again, I couldn't help but think 'what this team needs is Yaya Toure'.

Impressed with him in general, although he seemed to have been withdrawn a little as the second half progressed. Lots of energy, direct, good off both feet, spots a pass quickly and has a brain. And his corners were impressive (compared to ours, anyhow) He could play either the Jovetic roll or that of Nasri (or both combined) although he'd probably want to fill Silva's roll as the main play-maker if he came. On the flip side I thought he had the ball taken off him too easily, was not particularly strong and didn't do much pressing. I'd take him, though (based on tonight's performance).

Yes, I found that a little disconcerting.

Just to mention, after much criticism in recent times, I thought Ross Barkley did great 2nd half tonight, midst Everton disaster.

Very impressive for a kid who has only just turned 21 in Dec.

Absolutely no idea.

What I do know is that the 'replacement for Yaya' tag, is bollocks, at this age anyway. Played 2nd striker last night & did it very well considering, but not especially in a 'linking up' kind of way. He did show a bit of his repertoire last night; & the reason people rate him.

Where City would use him, I don't have a clue, but I can see why they still might want to. There is possibly a lot more under the surface.

Just read a piece ont net which claims Txiki was actually there at the game watching DeBruyne.

If he turned up after half time, the deal will be off..

I don't get the appeal with De Bruyne, admittedly I haven't seen a lot of him but what I did see didn't impress me. I heard him described as a Ginger Milner, quite apt from what I saw.

I thought Barkley was good last night too. Age and nationality wise he ticks all the boxes. Looked direct, pacy and with an eye for where the goal is too. Evertons problem was two-fold - Gaz Baz's legs have gone, and Alcarez must be the worst centre half to appear in the last 16 of a euro comp this season. You cant carry a passenger at that level but Everton had 2 or 3 of them in Alcaraz, Gaz Baz and Atsu.

Two of Barkley, Pogba and De Bruyne will solve a few ills in our squad. All three would lead to an all day piss-up. Cost would be north of £130m though for the lot of em so 2 is more realistic.
