Lawro and Degenerate predictions gameweek 30

Postby Wonderwall » Fri Mar 20, 2015 2:06 pm

Lawro is his usual insightful self this week. Go on have a guess at his prediction, however, if you happen to guess right, I dont think it will inspire you to go and play the lottery.

Premier League predictions: Lawro v Jeremy Vine & the Eggheads

BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson is pitting his wits against a different guest each week this season.
Lawro's opponents for this weekend's Premier League fixtures are the Eggheads - host Jeremy Vine and general knowledge experts Kevin and Dave from the daily BBC Two quiz show.

When you watch Manchester City, you can tell that all is not well.
I think they are getting found out a bit and their biggest problem is that, without the ball, they look extremely vulnerable.
That is not just against Barcelona, who created chance after chance as they knocked City out of the Champions League on Wednesday, that is against all the teams they have been playing lately. It is happening because their midfielders, for example Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri, do not work hard enough running backwards, which means City are defending with one midfielder in front of the back four. You cannot do it.

"Lionel Messi was brilliant for Barca but, fortunately for City, so was Joe Hart - without him in goal, the score could have been anything. Just as with Arsenal, though, the damage was done with their home defeat in the first leg of their last-16 tie. That is the reason City are out of the Champions League, not because of anything that happened at the Nou Camp."

Thanks to Tony Pulis, West Brom are going to be fine in terms of staying up. They are usually quite difficult to beat and it will not be easy for City to break them down. But I don't see the Baggies having much of a goal threat and I cannot see them keeping City out for 90 minutes either.
Lawro's prediction: 2-0
Eggheads' prediction: (Jeremy) City were storming it when Chelsea were faltering around Christmas and we were frightened. But when we started to stabilise they seemed to completely fall apart. I am going to predict it will be a horrible game. 0-0

What an insightful twat merson is, nostrafuckingdamus

Tony Pulis will ensure that West Brom are up for this game, even if they do not really have anything to play for, while Man City go into it on the back of a terrible result at Burnley last time out and I think they have to win this match.

If City don't, they will definitely struggle to finish in the top two and then all of a sudden – if Liverpool also win against Manchester United on Sunday – the Champions League positions will all start to bunch up.

However, I still expect City to win this one 2-0.

PAUL PREDICTS: 2-0

Thank goodness for Lawro, an oasis of stabity in an ever changing world. Still, 2-0 will do me.

If you want a laugh, look at Fenrando's twitter feed. He's tweeted what is in fact an old pic of the City players on exercise bikes - looking glum and like they don't give a monkeys - with the caption "focused and training hard for tomorrows game."

One of the first responses is - "Id love to see you on your bike at the end of the season fella." - theres some other classics in there too.

I fear City fans patience has worn very thin.

Jesus don't be so precious. Given how they've performed this season I'd say they've got off lightly. Having only 2 of them acknowledge the fans after that Burnley shambles was a disgrace, and if Id forked out my hard earned to watch that pisstake Id feel entitled to take the piss.

Not being impressed with fans abusing our own is being precious? I'd expect that kind of shit off rival fans.

I'm sure Fernando will be feeling confident knowing he has the support of the City fans.

I strongly recommend you don't ever go on Twitter - occasionally fans do offer criticism of our players based on how they've performed or not as the case may be. Perhaps best you don't ever hear anything a City fan says about Kolarov for example.

Going to games themselves may also be a bit much for you, if you want happy clappy stuff 100% of the time, whatever's being served up.

No need to be a dick.

I've no problem with anyone criticising or the occasional bit of abuse on a forum like this but going on to a player's social media site and abusing him is completely fucking different.

What purpose does it serve other than pissing the player off? We talk on here about players' attitudes, some so called fans need to have a long hard look at their own.

Hmm, Ill spend my whole evening wondering how Fernando is feeling about some random bloke on Twitter making a witty response to what is a rather glib photo.

The "being a Dick" trophy was clinched by you three responses ago.

I'm really hoping Fern is picked tomorrow now,to see the back of this one. Hopefully hes one of the two dickheads who were stood next to me at the Barca home game and slagged Fernando and Pellers off the whole game. I'm saying they didn't deserve it, but the whole game? Most positive comment was along the lines of 'that's a bit better Sergio' after the goal.

I think I'll follow Lawro's predictions on the Predictions League, I've been gash lately!

As for the Fernandinho comments, I don't understand why anybody would abuse him directly, not my bag, at all.

Doubt we will keep a clean sheet. If WBA score first they will just shut up shop and make it even more difficult. Nerves could creep in and that's a recipe I don't want to consider. Score first and it's a different ball game. Take a shitty 1-0 here and now

Did I mention that this is the new cold rainy night in Stoke, even though it's early afternoon?
