He was still better (and harder) than Ousmane fucking Dabo. What a fucking let down he was. I really thought we'd got this top class defensive midfielder from the Italian league on a bargain.

Can I also nominate Geert de Vlieger? Or is this only for players who actually got to play for City?

Haha!! Talk about letting your emotions and personally feelings towards someone cloud your judgement! Joey Barton was far from City's worst ever player. The season that was Keegan's last full one in charge there was only Joey, Micah, and Dunnie that gave a shit about keeping this club in the Premiership.

I actually agree with you. Not hating Joey seems to be frowned upon, though.

And you're forgetting Sun Jihai.

Geert had an achilles tendon damaged and never recovered... That's far different from Joey Barton dragging City into an assault scandal and having the club ban him from the media!

When we defeated QPR for City's first title in decades, Barton thuggishly tried to injure Tevez & Aguero. Joey then tried to get Kompany sent off with a red card, as well. Thankfully, Barton's malevolence backfired & it wound up giving City the extra time to score the winning goals... Scary to think that Joey inadvertently helped City to win the title!

Not that it matters much, but it was definitely Pearce who signed Dabo. We were shit in his final season too, and that was when the Barton/Dabo thing went down.

Tony Vaughan popped into my head today.

When you look at it really though, does anything beat Barry Conlon? I was there when he came on for his debut and my whole section of the north stand collectively asked "who?"

I get the feeling that people will have an at-best sketchy recollection of Bernardo Corradi in years to come. (I saw something about him on the internet yesterday, which is qhy he sprung to mind.) I've rarely known a player to have so little impact, game after game. Plus he was mind-bendingly slow.

He did score a couple of sweet headers (e.g. Pompey away), which made me think at the time that it might have been worth bringing in a couple of shite wingers who could do nothing but cross a ball. The poor cunt might have fared slightly better had we had a Beagrie or Kennedy-type in the team (or, in those days, someone like Etherington or even Bentley). I don't know what Pearce expected from him when his service was being provided by Barton, Vass and Tricky Trev.

Oh god, that fucking corner flag.

Cringe worthy.

At least it wasn't the Robinho...what would you call that thing? A dance? a heel flick? No idea what was going on there.

He was a sack of spuds. But he did score a cracking long distance goal one time, might have been FA Cup vs Leicester.

So did sicknote Danny Mills.
And Barton might be a cunt, but he was our cunt, not a bad player, and most importantly, gave a shit.

Who could ever forget the strike force that was Corradi and Sam Harris!
It was enough to make a grown man weep.

And while I'm at it, I really surprised that no-one's mentioned Sibierski, judging by the amount of shit he got on here at the time.
For my part I thought he got given a hard time, I didn't think he was that bad. Mind you, I didn't think he was that good either

I think 'slower than old people fuck' is the best way to describe him, but he did a job for us at a difficult time for the club

Always got a soft spot for Sibs, scored some good goals for us but nowhere near enough.

Very sad what happened to his kid.

I too liked him, especially as his time with us coincided with my hair vanishing! But for someone supposed to be good in the air (unintentional pun) he was much better with his feet.
