Attack FFS

I never thought I would say this. With Pellers. But attack the oppo.
Two strikers., play two of the worlds greatest attacking midfielders.
And don't die wondering.
What the fuck were we worried about tonight?

Absolutely 100% correct!

I just don't get Pellegrini, Kelechi played great with Sergio at the weekend and we were a lot more solid than I've seen for a long time with Delph in midfield. Why then tonight does he play the tree? I've loved Yaya but he is finished.

I would like us to play 442 for a couple of games especially against opposition we should be beating if we have any aspirations of winning the league.

Perhaps he knows it only really worked v Norwich because the opposition had no interest in making a game of it.

Exactly. It was almost as if he was happy with a draw. We were at home ffs. Should've brought Silva on a lot earlier and put Iheanacho on. He's pissing me off

Their goalie was man of the match and we should have won it at the end with a stone wall penalty, I'm pretty sure we were going for a win?

I thought so too, but there are still a few tweaks to be made before we start firing on all cylinders.
You can expect more of the same from Everton in the cup. Send out a well motivated energetic team and do them once and for all. Drop anyone who is not up for it.

We did attack, we perhaps didn't do it quick enough and it didn't help that DeBruyne's radar appeared off somewhat but have to credit Everton for their disciplined defending.

We spent over 40% of the game in the attacking third.

We attacked probably more than any other game.

We are playing so slow and really easy to play against.

If i was the Everton back four i'd be looking forward to another match against us.

Anyone who thinks the way we are playing is ok is deluded.

I actually thought yaya was one of our best players on the night. He simply has to be further forward though. How Pellegrini has not seen this beggars fucking belief.

But its his stubborness in not changing the system which is seriously pissing me off. Especially as it won us the game against Watford and worked perfectly against norwich. He doesnt take any risks.

No don't drop Yaya. He wins games for us. It's the extra defensive player that is costing us. they don't make us more solid at the back, in fact they make us more susceptible to the counter attack. Yaya and Silva will usually find a way through, Fernando, Delph and Fern 1 invariably don't and the move breaks down and we're vulnerable.
We need to go back to two strikers.

Because what Yaya does best is get the ball from the defence and link with with forwards. And we have nobody else who can do that. That's why he has to stay where he is. I cat believe people can't see that. He's not that good further forward.
The extra defensive mid and lone striker that everybody clamoured for is what is wrong with us. It's negative shit.

Everton Survived as they had gas left, get at them from the start and run the fight out of them, we waste so mush time is the slow build up, yest get caught to CA. BTW Navas how much ball does he waste, hard work I get it but his delivery to one of the worlds finest is not good enough. All Baines had to do was stick a left foot out all night.

I don't see it that way. Both flanks were suffering from doubling up on the wingers as soon as they got the ball. Sterling sometimes had Clichy busting a gut to cone around his outside but usually too late. More often than not Navas was given the ball and it was a case of 'there you go, run at them'. They doubled up on him immediately with another behind protecting the ball to the front post. We needed movement outside from Sagna and inside from KDB to take the extra players away.
It's not just Navas's responsibility and I'm not ignoring his well documented short comings. It only takes a few tweaks and things can start firing again.
Most of the tweaks in my opinion, involve the workrate of the players off the ball.
This is why we perceive our build up as being so slow.
The player on the ball should have immediate options around him. This is not happening.
Also, both he and Sterling put decent balls into dangerous areas last night with nobody attacking the six yard area.
Aguero is being doubled up on. Somebody has to be free.
Up the overall movement off the ball and things will come good.

It's not the lack of attacking but the pedestrian way we are going about it. If Joe boots the ball out then it usually goes to opposition. Play it put from the back then we have this stupid and fustration knack of passing it to Yaya six times in midfield then playing out wide. Always seems to be the same and at too slow a pace. Teams have too much time to get their defence organised.

Also too much pissing around trying to pass it through the box and not enough putting their laces through the ball and having a go.

It's fustration, fucking boring and costing us dear.

Some of you guys should actually get out on a pitch .They are not as big as they appear on tv.

All PL teams are fast . If a team like Everton put 10 players in their own box it aint easy to find an opening.
An early goal for us against them in the second leg and they will open up

Too much mucking about at the side of the area - out to Navas, back to KDB, back to Navas, beat the fullback, pull it back to Sagna, inside to KDB, across to Navas. If you're the forward, at what point do you make the run?

We are turning into what Arsenal used to be - lots of nice football, but no one ever shoots. We need to be a bit more direct at times and pass it around quicker the rest

In practical terms, I don't even attempt to watch evening games involving city now. Time difference of 4 hours vs the tedium of watching us pass pass pass pass then shoot it into a crowd of legs In the box then claim we should have won because we had a million % possession but did fuck all with it, particularly away from home means that I just can't justify the morning red eye and shit day at work any more.

Sad to say but I'm slowly drifting away from being the city fanatic i once was, and falling firmly into the 'casual' type of fan who will watch us when we're on tv at a convenient time.

Whilst people may criticise that, I make the point for a very valid reason. The Chinese and American millions we are hoping to attract need a product they can get behind, get excited about. At the moment, no team is particularly likeable in the premier league, let alone playing a brand of football which will get people interested. Fair enough, many of the great unwashed simply want to see a team that win, but the attraction of Barcelona and Real Madrid is that they score lots and lots of goals (granted in a shit league).

That for me is why Pellegrini is doomed at the end of the season. He can't execute the club's strategy of fan attraction because whilst he is an attack minded manager, he just isn't getting the team to perform at the level that's needed consistently which leaves us with the same type of turgid football as Mancini, but with a shit defence!
