Waiting in the stadium after the match

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Waiting in the stadium after the match

Postby Mase » Mon Mar 21, 2016 1:16 pm

So back in the Maine Road days we used to stay behind after the match and my mum and dad would have a few beers in the stadium with the people that sat around us, and the kids would sit in the seats waiting to see who'd come out for the warm down.

Then we moved to the CoMS and for the first few years they kept the bars open after the match and people could stick around and wait for the traffic to die down.

I'm assuming that's stopped now as pretty much 2 minutes after the final whistle I was being asked to leave by the stewards. I advised I was waiting for the congestion to die down but got told I HAD to leave as they 'wanted to go home'. I don't understand, is there some policy where you get kicked out now bang on 90 minutes?

I couldn't understand what the issue was with me waiting for 10 minutes after the final whistle. When did things change?

I got told 'my face would be on cctv for refusing to go' and I 'could be banned'.

What's wrong with that place? I know there's City Square now that people can go to but if you're paying £700+ for a season ticket you shouldn't expect to get kicked out bang on 90 minutes.

Anyone know who I could speak to at City about it direct rather than a generic complaints email that I'll just get a copy and paste response from?

I've had the same several times, and have got in a couple of rows over it.
I always tend to be one of the last out, because I'd rather let the rush die down.

I can't for the life of me understand it. It's 5-10 minutes. It's all well and good saying 'I want to get home' but I sit in work and I want to go home, but I'm being paid to do a job!

A couple of times I was ready to just get up and leave but then they started talking to me like shit so I just sat back down.

Pisses me off because it's a lot of money for a season ticket, and there's no need to rush people out.

City Square is the opposite direction of where I needed to go. By the time I'd walked to City Square I'd be walking straight back. I only wanted to wait 5-10 minutes to let the crowds die down.

i quite enjoy watching them cut the grass. They open the gates early enough to let you consume and spend, why don't they carry on ? there's good money to be made.

I wait til the end, then go to marys while the traffic dies down (usually end up one of the last in marys!)

don't get the people that leaves on 80 mins to sit in hours of traffic

I do not get often to the stadium but hanging around and soaking up the atmosphere before the match is something I like doing, and staying behind would be espicially good watching palyerrs warm down, young players come out and kick around/train and watching the pitch getting repaires. Everything City essentially, call me an old fool but I do like to soak it all in.

I'm a sad bastard but I was fascinated seeing how those lights work that they bring out after the match and put over certain areas of the pitch to help the grass.

Got hassled out 5 minutes after the Kiev rubbish. Unimpressed.

I find the blue box stuff a bit poor too. Went for a piss, stood 3 inches in a blue box as there was a corner and my aisle was a few blocks down, to then be told to move. Fair enough but it was during the game and there was practically no-one else on the concourse. Next blue box down? 4 people stood in it with the stewards doing nothing. I'm not going to start an argument with them but plenty will.
After the ball was centred, after the whistle blew...
