Am going for Stones who seems to fit hand in glove for Pep's system.

The attack (bar Sterling) let us down. Nolito, KDB, Silva and Kun were all disappointing.

+1
When I saw the team I thought the forwards would carry us comfortably as I was surprised at the defence. As it goes, the defence and system they played were superb and it was the attacking guys that were lacklustre.

Sterling just ahead of Fern1 (good games from both 'fullbacks' and Stones and Willy). Quite liked to see Silva unleashed as well, for 60 minutes at least. I really liked the potential of what we saw today.

an overall sound performance with a few worthy picks to choose from.

I went for Sir Fernandinho, because the task to either shield defense, all alone, and contribute to boss the park, was not an easy one. irrespectively of the quality and attitude of the opposition.

Special mention to Sterling, for quality, desire, confidence and consistence too.

Think, below par, only yet out of form Brown's and Sergio, whose reluctance to work for providing depth and little desire to run a couple of yds to catch a slightly shorter pass, I keep saying, is a problem, despite his well regarded and beloved unique striking skill.

Also, even in the wake of his missed opportunity, and quite selfish decision not to pass a sitter to delph, I can't help but loving every minute Nacho plays. Indeed, "not fit to lace Rashford boots", but still the very best prospect of the Premier.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

I've gone for Kolarov as he played well in an unusual position for him.

Sterling.

Constant threat on the wings and looks re-energised. Hope this is the start of a great season for him.

I don't hate him. In fact I actually quite like him. He seems like a nice guy and has been a City player for years now. And he had a really good game yesterday.

But I don't trust him - at all - to put in the effort when it gets tough. His hard man image is less Tevez and Bellamy "work until my legs fall off", and more Balotelli "cool guy don't give a fuck"

Also, you don't think it's a little over to top for "one of the best CB performances ever"? Maybe "one of the best CB performances of the 2016 season so far"...

Mate, I think it was one of the best performances ever, not just from a CB ;)

It was better than I expected, yet we somehow conceded. He wasn't terrible and stones was good too, but we probably lacked a true organizer for deco to wriggle free like that.

I still think Kolarov won't make it as a centre back once opponents get a grip on him but on the other hand I couldn't imagine that he would work as a centre back at all. What do I know? Onwards and upwards.

I was very impressed by Sterling and gave him my motm vote though I was also impressed by AK in his new and unfamiliar role - it was, in general, great to see Pep moving players into roles that suit their skill set and which bring out the best in them. He certainly seems to have great vision.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

I voted for Sterling.

Although, after slagging him off constantly to a RAG at work for over a year, I'm glad dirty Rag Paddy McNair came good for us in the end.

He was my selection. But at least 4 to choose from really.

On reflection a few days later it was really the start of something special I feel. First 10 mins it was like I was a kid at xmas.

We didn't take our chances, or more literally create as many, as our possession should dictate which was why they were in with a shout but lots of positives from Peps debut.

He will get found out with that style more than once tho so I hope I can steel my will when we do a 2-2 at the Hawthorns or at home to the Scum or whatevs when it seems like a more traditional conservative setup would easily take the pts.

Cheers
