Lawro and degenerate Predictions v Burnley (A)

Postby Wonderwall » Fri Nov 25, 2016 11:34 am

Lawro's opponent for this week's fixtures is comedian Lloyd Griffith, who supports his hometown club Grimsby. Well I haven't heard of the funny man, but he clearly has an axe to grind with City judging by his prediction. No explanation given for it, however, looking at our record against Grimsby, they have beaten us once in the last 50 years. Maybe he is just trying to be funny? Fuck knows! Lawro is once again Mr consistent and so is Merson with his fantastic insight into his football knowledge, he should go on tour with Lloyd.

Lawro says:

Burnley's performance in Monday's 4-0 defeat by West Brom was probably their worst of the season.

The Clarets don't often put in two poor displays back to back, though, and I think they will give Manchester City's defence a really tough examination.

But I still fancy City to win this one, even though their manager Pep Guardiola keeps changing things around at the back.

By doing that, Guardiola is making it very difficult for his players to get any continuity.

What John Stones, for example, needs now is to play with someone regularly - swapping his defensive partners around and playing different systems is just not working for him or for City.

Lawro's prediction: 0-2

Lloyd's prediction: 3-0

Merson says

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/ ... sea-to-win

This is another must-win game for City. Burnley were terrible against West Brom. They go to Man United and draw 0-0 and then they go and get beaten 4-0 at West Brom. It was terrible.

I don't see anything but a Man City win. The big boys have to win - draws are no good and I have City to win this one.

PAUL PREDICTS: 0-3 (Sky Bet odds 13/2)

I wouldn't mind the clean sheet TBH

With our unpredictable form who can predict with even a moderate degree of confidence as to what will happen. All the chopping changing at the back (enforced or not) is not helpful. A clean sheet and stop giving away soft goals would be very welcome, after that if we win 0-1 that will be a very good result.

Well Burnley have had four days to get their defensive lines in order. Were WBA so good to stuff them 4-0? were Scouse 2 so bad to lose at Burnley ?

For me it is all about getting the win and that's it.

Also , if we can play good entertaining football as well.

If the situations open up and we get a few goals, so be it . However, not destroying Burnley , should not be used as a means to beat up on City as candidates to win the league. Next Saturday will set a marker.

It certainly is for myself as well, ZC.

Don't care how we manage it but just let's end up with three points and no injuries.

Aguero has a poorly toe but he's not injured - at 4pm today he will train and be assessed - Pep speak for rested/dropped tomorrow I reckon.
Isn't it dark around 4 ?

"Sergio is not injured. He has a problem in his foot," says the manager.

Yes, the problem is connecting the foot with the ball in such a way that the ball goes in the net.

My goodness, if you're correct JC and if Aguero is left out tomorrow, or benched, I wonder if Pep will play a 4-6-0 formation and continue to, seemingly, overlook Nacho ??

Surely he's got to give the youngster a chance from the start ??

As usual, a scruffy 1-0 would suit me. I however have a terrible feeling we are going to get turned over. I fear the CL headache will rear its ugly head and we will struggle to break down the two banks of five whilst conceding a sloppy goal on the break or from a set piece.

Hope i couldn't be more wrong

This sounds like Kun will not play.
Not dropped but does not fit whatever specific tactics Pep wants to employ again'st Burley.
So this is good. A specific game plan for opposition that will be very difficult to score again'st.

Therefore, a comfortable 0 - 2 victory.

Of course if Kun plays the above is complete BS.

Sounds to me like he may not play because he picked up a knock against BMG.

I got a bruised toe right now. It really fucking hurts!
I trained last night anyway, just because skipping training for a "poorly toe" sounds lame as fuck, but I really didn't enjoy it and am already dreading the game on Sunday.

Lawro hitting a peak of consistent form, good to see. No great insight in any of the comments from them though.

Yes it is probably is as straight forward as that.
(I have the perception that the Kun situation is not o.k. so I look for hidden agendas).
I have not started hearing any voices yet so I am not to worried about myself.
