Messi: Barcelona star will snub Man City because he has a BAD relationship with Guardiola
Image
BARCELONA star Lionel Messi will not be joining Manchester City because he has a bad relationship with Pep Guardiola, according to a shock report.
Messi and Guardiola worked together at Barcelona between 2008 and 2012, with the duo helping the Catalan giants dominate domestic and European football.
For years now, talk that the Argentina international will play under Guardiola again has been rife, particularly with his future uncertain at the Nou Camp.
But Spanish website Diario Gol claim there is no chance of Lionel Messi moving to Manchester City.
And that is said to be because the duo do not have as good a relationship as many think.
Many have always considered the two to be close friends due to how they turned Barcelona into one of Europe’s best teams.
The Spaniard took a sabbatical after a stressful final year in the job, where Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid were crowned La Liga champions.
And it appears the scars remain raw with Messi and Guardiola barely keeping in touch since going their separate ways five years ago.
Guardiola, meanwhile, is also reluctant to ever make a bid for the Barcelona star.
And that is because he knows any transfer would see fans of the Catalan side turn on him.
Meanwhile, speaking in July, Guardiola said Messi was the best player he has ever seen.
“He is the best player I have ever seen,” he said.
“The best thing about him is not what he does but how simple he makes everything look.
“He is not just the best player because he can dribble past three or four players, it is because he does it better than anyone in the world.”

Man City battling Arsenal for Riyad Mahrez

Manchester City are preparing to battle Premier League rivals Arsenal for the signature of Riyad Mahrez in the latest transfer gossip round up.
Manchester City are lining up a move for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to reports in Spain.
Pep Guardiola is reportedly an admirer of the tricky midfielder and is hopeful of adding more attacking talent to his squad.
Mahrez has also been linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea, but insists he is 'settled' at the club - despite attempting to leave in the last transfer window.
Guardiola was spotted chatting with the Algerian international at the end of the Blues' 2-0 victory over Leicester on the weekend.
Spanish outlet Don Balon - website are not the most reputable when it comes to transfer news - believe a move to the Premier League leaders would be the perfect platform for the 26-year-old to further his career.
City, meanwhile, have been linked with a move for Barcelona starlet Mateu Jaume.
The 17-year-old right-back starred for Spain in the U17 World Cup, where they finished runners up to an England side inspired by the brilliance of Phil Foden.
And. according to Tuttosport, the Blues will compete with Bayern Munich and Juventus to secure his signature.
Bayern were close to securing a deal for the Spaniard in the summer, but that collapsed.
Barcelona want to tie the defender down to a long term contract deal at the Nou Camp, City remain hopeful of convincing Jaume to move.

Manchester City target Joshua Kimmich confirms Bayern Munich contract talks despite interest from old boss Pep Guardiola
Image
MANCHESTER CITY target Joshua Kimmich is in talks with Bayern Munich over a new contract.
The star’s agent has revealed that despite reported interest from Pep Guardiola, and Barcelona, Kimmich could now earn himself a mega-money deal by sticking with the Bundesliga giants.
The versatile Germany international has shined at right-back this season, taking over the role from Bayern legend Philipp Lahm.
But Kimmich’s best position is in central midfield, and he was also used at centre-back during Guardiola’s time at the Allianz Arena.
All those bonuses, plus his pleasing performances, have put him firmly in City’s sights as they look to add more quality to their title-chasing squad.
But Bayern have made the first move to secure Kimmich’s signature by opening talks over a new contract to keep him past 2020.
Uli Ferber told SportBild: “In the summer, Karl Heinz-Rummenigge came to use for the first time to discuss whether we can extend our association.
“We sat down together for the first time in the fall and will again one more time by the end of the year to lead the discussions.
“There is much to support an agreement given Kimmich’s star has continued to rise.”
Bayern have clearly been alarmed into action following praise from the youngster for former boss Guardiola.

Toure reveals Guardiola anger with City's Feyenoord display

With qualification to the Champions League knockout stages already secure, Guardiola made seven changes to his starting line-up for the visit of the faltering Eredivisie holders and a patchy, listless contest was drifting towards a goalless conclusion before Raheem Sterling expertly dispatched his 11th goal of the season two minutes from time.
That made it five wins out of five in Europe this term, securing top spot in Group F in the process, while City have taken a remarkable 34 points from the 36 on offer in the Premier League.
Speaking after Saturday's considerably more impressive 2-0 win at Leicester, Guardiola said he would "kill" his players if they became complacent and strong words were dished out in the aftermath of Tuesday's match at the Etihad Stadium.
"It's human nature that sometimes you are a little bit lazy, think you're super or arrogance can go in your head - especially when you are young," said veteran midfielder Toure, following only his third start of the campaign.
"You look beautiful and think you're going to be the best. But you have to be careful because a modest team like Feyenoord, you see they came in and maybe could have surprised us.
"At the end the manager was quite angry with the team, of course. We can do better than that.
"We could have scored [more] because we had chances. We played lazily. You have to focus and respect the opponent."
Post-game irritation from Guardiola or Toure's own frank assessment is unlikely to shift the perception that City are better placed to make a far more convincing bid for Champions League glory than at any other time over their previous six seasons in the competitions.
"I have to stay positive. We are in good form," said the 35-year-old, a winner under Guardiola with Barcelona in the 2009 final.
"When you see all the top teams, they all struggle a little bit. When I see Juventus, or Madrid, Barcelona - all these kind of teams - we've got to be a stronger and better team.
"Statistics mean nothing. We have to play against them and see where we are."
Under Manuel Pellegrini, City were knocked out in back-to-back seasons by Barcelona after drawing the Liga giants in the last 16.
It is a fate they will avoid this time around as fellow group winners, although this week's results mean Real Madrid and likely Bayern Munich too will progress as second-place finishers - making them, along with Juventus, potential heavyweight opponents for Guardiola's men in the new year.
Toure is confident his colleagues are a match for all-comers but added with a chuckle: "No, I don't want these teams now. Further, further! If all the top teams finish first then it is good."

‘Kevin De Bruyne is worse than Kieran Trippier’
Manchester City’s brilliant playmaker Kevin De Bruyne was the subject of analysis for Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports’ website on Wednesday.
‘Man City’s KDB worst that Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier’
Carragher is likely to tick off some Man City fans with his De Bruyne analysis.
For the vast majority of the article, Carragher showered praise on the Sky Blues star:
Everything goes through you in central midfield but when you’re in such good form every other player in the team wants to give you the ball, too. No matter how many stars they have in that side, they give the ball to De Bruyne.
His right foot is like a wand but then you see the goals he’s scored with his left – so how do you actually stop him? At the moment he’s looking unplayable.
But, on one aspect of his game, De Bruyne is apparently worst that Tottenham full-back Kieran Trippier. Carragher argued:
He’s also so difficult to stop in terms of his assists because he can move in and out of different positions with his current role.
He’s playing just to the right of a midfield three where he can slip players in but by moving five or 10 yards to the right he’s in a crossing position and there’s no better crosser of a ball in the Premier League, perhaps with the exception of Kieran Trippier at Tottenham.

Promising reports emerge to the delight of Man City fans!
Manchester City fans (commonly know as “the noisy neighbours”) have the right to make all the noise they want at the moment, especially as their side has yet to drop a single away point this season (though they did drop two points at home to Everton) and continued their remarkable form with a convincing 2-0 win over the 2015-16 Premier League winners.
Having taken a seemingly unassailable lead at the top heading into the international break, they can be forgiven for taking their eye off the ball on the pitch as they turn to matters in the boardroom.
Ecstatic City fans will be pleased to learn if a recent report (from Don Balon) is anything to go by, the club could make a swoop for Leicester City winger, Riyad Mahrez come the January transfer window.
Mahrez played a key role in his sides unlikely title win two seasons ago, scoring 17, and making 10 assists in the process in helping his side achieve what many thought couldn’t be done, though last season, he went through a spell that saw him unable to replicate that exact form with just a paltry six goals and four assists.
Despite last season’s poor form, there have been encouraging signs which suggests that he could be back on top form with two goals and five assists in just 12 appearances thus far. Little wonder why he’s reportedly attracting interest from the 2012 & 2014 champions!
Having sung his praises, it remains to be seen whether the Premier League leader will actually make a move for him. Should they do so, It’ll be rather interesting to see what he can do!
Given his dip in form last season, we shouldn’t doubt what Mahrez is capable of, especially as he’s on the verge of recapturing the form that saw his side win the title. That could be both good, and bad for the Foxes, as the Algerian is attracting interest, but is lighting up the King Power Stadium once again.
So, what do you make of the potential signing? Starting with fans of the table toppers, what do you think he would add to the side? Leicester City fans, where do you go from here? How would you be able to replace him? Would Jamie Vardy do as well without Mahrez?

Frank Lampard is lethal, one of a dying breed of goalscoring midfielders... that's why Manchester City love him so much
Frank Lampard should start against Bayern Munich on Tuesday for City
For a 36-year-old who was supposed to be seeing out his professional career in the relative calm of Major League Soccer, Frank Lampard is hardly going quietly.
He is expected to start what could well be Manchester City’s last throw of the dice in the Champions League against Bayern Munich on Tuesday and the club are now talking about keeping him almost until the first kick of the MLS season in March.
Surprise is being expressed at the lengths Manchester City are prepared to go to. There is now talk of New York City, Lampard’s American employers, holding their pre-season training camp in Manchester to enable him to remain in the Premier League for longer. Friendly matches could also be arranged in the north west, so that he might be accessible to both clubs.
In his first four appearances for Manchester City, Lampard had scored four times
Manchester City say Lampard’s pre-season needs are moot, anyway. Having played the first half of the Premier League season, at his age he simply couldn’t undergo the physical strain of intense preparation.
Better to keep ticking over, with light training and match practice. It is the logical argument and City believe they will win it.
Even so, it seems a frightful palaver to accommodate a player who was bought as little more than a stop-gap, has started only three games this season and completed one — against Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup.
The broader explanation is that Yaya Toure will miss most of January and maybe even half of February at the Africa Cup of Nations.
City cannot afford to have Lampard depart on January 1, too.
Yet there may be more to it than that. In his nine games this season, Lampard has scored four goals.
He is joint-second highest scorer at the club, with Toure and Edin Dzeko, and has scored more times than Stevan Jovetic or David Silva.
Jesus Navas last scored a Premier League goal on January 18. Samir Nasri is yet to score in any competition this season.
Lampard, even in his dotage, remains prolific. Going into this weekend, to have just three Premier League goals would put a player joint 19th in the scoring charts.
Lampard is a goal off that pace, having started two Premier League matches this season, one of which ended through injury after 28 minutes.
He has matched Toure for goals, having started three games to Toure’s 17.
His old club, Chelsea, are being hurried towards the title by the prolific Diego Costa, yet have not replaced Lampard. They never will replace Lampard, because what he brought was unique in the modern age.
Eden Hazard is their highest-scoring midfielder this season: he has four Premier League goals, one more than Oscar. Willian and Cesc Fabregas have one each.
Lampard at Chelsea would have been hugely disappointed with any of those numbers. He was in double figures in 10 consecutive league seasons. In all competitions over five seasons, between 2005-06 and 2009-10, he scored 108 times.
So where have the goalscoring midfielders gone? Going into Sunday's games there were 38 players with three goals or more in the Premier League — and only 12 were midfield players.
Of that number, only Nacer Chadli of Tottenham Hotspur (six) and Mohamed Diame of Hull City (four) had more than three goals. And only four of the 38 were old-fashioned box-to-box central midfielders in Lampard’s mould.
Chadli is at times used almost as a second striker. So are players like Juan Mata, Oscar or Raheem Sterling. Hazard, Nathan Dyer and Angel di Maria are very much forwards, too, starting wide.
Like tackling and full backs who see defence as a priority, the Lampard role is a diminishing art. In the Premier League this season, only Diame, Crystal Palace’s Mile Jedinak and Southampton pair Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama have had any return from that position.
A look at the numbers in the England squad underlines the dearth of options. Roy Hodgson’s current central midfield pairing, Jack Wilshere and Jordan Henderson, have 44 caps between them — and no goals.
Chelsea legend Lampard netted 211 times in his 13 years at Stamford Bridge, a club record
James Milner has scored once in 53 games. Wide players Sterling, Adam Lallana and Stewart Downing have no goals in 61 appearances combined. Promote Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley and Fabian Delph and that total would not increase.
In the most recently named squad, aside from Milner’s one, only Theo Walcott (five) and Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain (four) had scored an international goal.
So why do City want to keep hold of Lampard? It is not just to shadow Toure. Perhaps Manuel Pellegrini has come to realise that he has an unlikely opportunity to work with the last of his kind in the English game.
City came to Lampard late — but no wonder they wish to savour every moment of his autumn years.

Pep Guardiola should come and manage in England one day, says Manuel Pellegrini
Manuel Pellegrini and Pep Guardiola will clash again on Tuesday
Guardiola has 18 months left on his contract at Bayern Munich and has long been linked with a move to the Premier League
If Manchester City lose to Bayern they will be out of the Champions League

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has said it would be 'very good' for Champions League rival Pep Guardiola to manage one day in the Premier League.
Pellegrini faces Guardiola on Tuesday night with the Bayern Munich manager tipped in some quarters to be his eventual successor at The Etihad due to his previous working relationship at Barcelona with City executives Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain
Far from baulking at the mention of Guardiola's name, Pellegrini has heaped praise on his counterpart and said he could see the benefits for the Bayern boss of working in England at some point.
Pep Guardiola showed the full range of his emotions as Bayern Munich beat Hoffenheim 4-0 on Saturday
'I cannot read what will happen in the future but I am sure if sometime he arrives here, he will be a very important manager as he was in Barcelona and now at Bayern Munich. But it is impossible for me to know,' said Pellegrini.
Asked if he though Guardiola would come to the Premier League, the City boss replied: 'Maybe, yes. I think it will be very good for him and very good for the Premier League also. But I cannot talk for Pep Guardiola.
'I think Pep always gives a style of play to all his teams. Maybe the players are not the same so Barcelona and Bayern Munich do not play exactly the same. But they are always very attractive teams and very offensive teams that likes to have high possession of the ball.
'I think that Pep is a very good manager, he demonstrated what he did in Barcelona and now at Bayern Munich but I think the most important thing for us is to try to make a very good game against a great team.'
Guardiola's contract in Germany has another 18 months to run and he is likely to be coveted by every major team in Europe afterwards, including Arsenal and Manchester United if they have vacancies.
Tuesday night represents a huge match for Pellegrini who was hired to replace Roberto Mancini in 2013 partly due to his success in taking unfashionable Malaga to the last eight of the Champions League.
Ironically the Chilean's greatest success at City so far has come in domestic competitions, winning the Premier League and Capital One Cup last season.
City crashed out in the last-16 of the competition last season and have collected only two points from four games in their group games in this campaign.
Defeat against Bayern will end their Champions League hopes and Pellegrini says he is putting more pressure on himself than the owners are applying to avoid that happening.
'My own pressure to continue to the next round is an important pressure – more maybe than the owners,' he said.
'Of course I think we must be in the next stage. A lot of times you don’t reach the target you are supposed to do but that is the way to sit down and think about what happened. I repeat, I will do that after we know if we are not in the next stage.
'If we don’t continue to the round of 16 then of course it is a step back but we have to play two more games and we will see what happens in those games. After that I can answer, not at this moment.'
Pellegrini's hopes aren't helped by missing Yaya Toure and Fernandinho on Tuesday due to their red cards against CSKA Moscow in their previous European games. David Silva, Aleksandr Kolarov and Edin Dzeko are also currently injured.
In addition, the City boss has been hamstrung by Uefa restrictions on squad size and spending power due to the club breaching financial fair play regulations.
It led to Pellegrini allowing striker Alvaro Negredo out on loan.
'We had a lot of restrictions, we cannot have more than 21 players in the Champions League squad. It is a lot of things but it is not my way to use all these things to excuse bad results. We have a squad, we have the reality of what happened this year and have to work that way.'
Bayern have already qualified for the knockout stages and are favourites with Barcelona and Real Madrid to the win the Champions League, boasting star names like Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Robert Lewandowski and World Cup winners Mario Goetze, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller. Captain Philippe Lahm is out though with a long-term injury.

Manuel Pellegrini urges Manchester City fans to roar his charges on against Bayern Munich
City could be eliminated from the Champions League if they lose at the Etihad, after failing to win in the competition so far
Manuel Pellegrini has urged Manchester City’s fans to turn up the noise for Tuesday’s crunch Champions League tie at home to Bayern Munich.
City’s fans have been strangely subdued at the Etihad Stadium in City’s two group games there this season, a 1-1 draw with Roma and a 2-1 defeat to CSKA Moscow.
The Premier League champions, on just two points from their four Group E games, need to beat Bayern to ensure their destiny remains in their hands ahead of their final game away to Roma.
And City boss Pellegrini has urged City’s fans to raise the roof against Germany champions and five-times European Cup winners Bayern, to give his players the backing they need.
“Maybe in the last game against CSKA Moscow they were not so noisy as they are in the Premier League,” said Pellegrini.
“But I’m sure on Tuesday we’ll see the real fans here supporting our team and that they will be very important for us to try to win.”
City are without suspended duo Yaya Toure and Fernandinho, while David Silva, Aleksandar Kolarov and Edin Dzeko are all sidelined through injury.
The absence of Dzeko means Stevan Jovetic, who scored in City’s 2-1 win over Swansea on Saturday, will keep his place up front with Sergio Aguero, with Frank Lampard and Fernando set to occupy the central midfield roles.

Manchester City apologise after certificate featuring Ched Evans photo is given to kids
Manchester City has issued an apology after a certificate which featured a photo of convicted rapist and former Sheffield United footballer Evans was given to children.
The Sun reported yesterday that the certificate was given to attendees of Academy coaching sessions, featuring images of successful footballers who had been in the programme.
Ched Evans was one such footballer, having been at Manchester City for eight years before he moved to Sheffield United.
A spokeswoman for Manchester City has said that the club apologised for any distress caused.

Really? Who's place would he take? I'm a bit underwhelmed by the prospect of him joining us and only think it will hinder the progress of the kids such as Brahim and Foden

Unless you're being a sarcastic bastard and it's completely gone over my head

I find sarcasm hard to detect on forums - it's all about tone and pitch; 2 factors which get lost on a keyboard ;)

Oh, how I feel for You FiBD! I might only be in less control if a return of Trippier is to be sealed through a direct swap with Kev!

some b*ll*x proper, btw today

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

In Roger Ailes/Donnie Drumpf's words: "don't know it for a fact, but many people say so..."
there must be some truth, then!

Thought the bollox might have started another discussion about Lionel. Although with the high quality wags on offer these days perhaps nobody is in the mood for Messi debating.
