He's got potential but not quite there yet for me. He's proving to be a real quality striker but needs to actually put himself in a position to prove he can be the one to win things for his club, that's how a World Class player is judged.

By that merit, was Shearer not world class? I think your judgement is harsh that a player needs to win things to be thought of as world class. Although it's very unlikely in the modern day, what if someone the calibre of Messi didn't play for a top club?

On the flip side, you've also got the likes of Kleberson who has won the world cup, and Djimi Traore who is a Champions League winner.

You are missing the point though Beefy. The media are building him up so that England can sell mega bucks worth of Shirts before the WM, whereby he will promptly lose form and be the first on the aircraft before the knock--out stages.
