scholes... not arguing he wasn't a good player but all the bollox that he would have had 150 caps if he had been brazilian or spanish does my head in.
now, coinciding with the release of his fucking boring book, carrick is being talked about in the same way

Eric Cantona. A fine player and a bona fide crackpot, but Dennis Bergkamp and Michael Laudrup were better.
So was Zidane, and Rivaldo. That would make Cantona the fifth best player of his generation in his position.

I too got much better when I hung up my five-a-side boots, it's more effective than any coaching.

A great player on his day but his talents have been totally blown out of proportion. I think his “attitude” aka him being an oddball had a lot to do with it. Many players far greater don’t get half the acknowledgement he does. Le Tissier, Zola spring to mind straight away.
As for Carrick if I was being kind I’d describe him as a reliable player.

Zola was a joy to watch, similar to our Dave.

Same here. I was brilliant, whereas 5 years ago I was pretty good, and ten years ago I wasn’t bad at all.
It’s like the memory of me is maturing with age like a good whiskey.

I'd take Barry over Carrick every day of the week.

Agree, always felt Barry was seriously underrated.
