Lyon have to win 8 nil or something like that to have any chance of winning the group aswell , Shaktar will be well up for it though like you say . Mentality of a "few" on here is that our last game isn't a dead rubber though , beggars belief this forum at times , well a lot of the time lately

If we lose and they win then they top the group mate, it's decided by head to head results rather than goal difference.

Ah nice one pal . Still all ifs and buts and we have to lose . Shaktar can pip Lyon to qualify for the last 16 think they will be up for that , everything massively in City,s favour after last nights result in France . Sort of a lot about nothing really = dead rubber !

did you go to the same special school as south stand balti?

I see a touch of humour was too much for you to digest properly. It's funny how you play the big man..... we all remember how Burt made you whimper in the corner. I'd be dead inside if I was the village coward like you.

Blue tinted specs or not we were very poor last night and very lucky not to have lost 5-2.

Beating the shite PL teams easily is one thing but the latter stages of this competition is another. I am not convinced we can do it.

it changes from being a league now, to being a cup , in the spring. City have qualified for the cup part.

Now , it gets interesting.

Its a shame you thought we were very poor and your not convinced is some statement to be fair . Have you met Nigel from Surrey ? you will get on just fine !

Cant say I do know him.
However returning to more important matters.
Our form in domestic competitions is not a measure of how far we will go in the Champions League. Essentially that is my point.
Recent history proves this.
We have some, well a lot of 'experts', pundits, bookies etc that have installed us as CL favorites. Clearly that is based on our domestic form which we haven't really seen in the DIFFICULT champions league games, for whatever reason is unknown.
I am not writing us off, just feel that an awful lot needs to go in our favor, and with UEFA holding all the aces, well we will see.

Probably style clash is a factor, but Lyon were the best side we have faced this seaon. Personally I'm glad we won't face them in the next round. It was a good match with 2 very good teams - oh and we got an away score draw - which in Europe is a sort of Holy Grail in such games (as long as you do the bizz at home)

Just back from three days in Lyon. Thought over both games that they had our number and definitely the best side we have played this season. We've come away with a point and should qualify as group winners . Back to the league for a couple of weeks two bug away games next week set us up nicely for Christmas period

how was your trip? saw some pics that you lot were forced to watch the match through netting?! also hearing that the authorities over there weren't as helpful as they could have been? frustrating because english clubs / police seem to go above and beyond when it comes to helping visiting fans from overseas...

lyon is a cracking city, spent a year at uni in grenoble in the late 90s and used to head up to lyon a couple of times a month for days/nights out.

anyway.... glad we've got our 2 shittest performances of the season out of the way in the cl. we came back to beat cardiff 5-0 after we lost to lyon at home, hopefully a similar hiding will be handed out to bournemouth tomorrow

Trip was great .Lyon surprised me as a city not too shabby. Can't remember many trips where away fans don't have netting up ? was same in Naples and Rotterdam last season. We were kept in for longer than necessary at the end but that's UCL away days. Can remember it being at least 90mins wait after the game in Naples so again goes with the territory unfortunately. Back to what we know and love tomorrow 12 bells start in Monton Carlo and then coach to the game
