Defensive Stat Since Our Defensive Crisis

Postby City64 » Sat Sep 28, 2019 9:27 pm

After Gary rag twat Neville appalling negative anti city "commentary" tonight especially about our defence without Laporte and Stones a stat has appeared on social media . It is quite something ........

Played 4
Won 4
Goals For 17
Goals Against 1

Crisis ? Media driven hype !

Oh and we could and should have probably scored another 10 goals in those 4 games !
Not really here

Fuck VAR

That is genuinely funny. Fair question, you feel ok with the defence? We are up against it and it's a problem brought about, IMHO, by terrible misfortune and a failure to buy 1, just 1, CB. Not Slabhead, he's not good enough.

We might be able to ride it a bit, maybe not at Klanfield, but I'd go for Koulibaly in January and break our transfer record.

We all have worries and care about our club but did you actually see the above post/stats?

I just read a stay that we lot the most shots on target in that game than any other Pep has coached here?

Let’s be honest that stats can be near amazing all season and one or two more dropped wins costs us the league. It doesn’t have to be awful for it to be costly really.
Tracking back is overrated.

The media is begging for a collapse and some people here are buying into it. We are giving up some chances but we're creating more than enough to double the other team's score even if they finish all their chances

Scouse2, were gifted a goal yesterday, their Massive attack, were gifted a goal.Away from home.

Before the goal the opposition dominated the game.

After the goal Scouse2 entered a time wasting strategy.

Everton's goal was a result of some ping pong ball movement, it could have bounced for us, it bounced for them.

City spent most of the game as usual trying to score another goal

Scouse2's game plan wont work in the long run and i would rather watch the great , attractive and positive flowing football that City play , than the dross scouse2 put out.

I'm not worried about our defence. More worried about Salzburg's Coach on wednesday.

There's some cause for concern though, we gave up 8 shots on target against us for Everton, apparently the highest since Pep took over.

Fair point , but Everton are a mixed bag at the moment , not really got into gear yet and more importantly, there were at home .

What was most worrying for me was that on their corners or free kicks into the box, their guys had at least three clear headers on goal seemingly unchallenged. A more competent team would have scored from two of those chances.

We have similar issues against most, we don't normally concede that many corners though, that's where most of their shots on target came from.

Shots on target is fuck all to do with the defence, it's the defending.
If some twat has a shot from 20 yards with Rodri stood next to him that's nothing on the defence. If Sterling let's a guy put an easy cross in without any pressure that's nothing to do with the defence.

You defend as a team. That includes the forwards. If the forwards do the press correctly then the opposing team wont have the ball in our defensive third as often

Agreed. What Neville was saying is that because Laporte is injured our defence is conceding loads.

STATS MY HOLE.
Does anyone think we can win the league with two midfielders and otamendi in our defense? Seriously?
As for stones coming back, well we cant really be relying on him now can we.
Can we count the loss of Laporte in league points?Yes we can and it's easily 6+, that's a best case scenario or a very conservative estimate. It probably will be more.

Yes if we press like we normally do when losing the ball so we force an early error and regain possession - and we pass like we usually do, AT our own players.

Hopefully Zinchenkos lamentable performance at Everton will be the last time we see him at left back
