As Sunderland now want him on loan, he's never going to be first choice for a few years at least whilst Given is in between the posts if you ask me.
So why not just sell him?
For 8 million?

Put a buy back clause in his contract that says we can have him against his wishes when Given goes.

Why do we need to sell him? We dont need the money and he is a cracking back up keeper!
Plus he's home grown, so that is always a bonus

Any of our players who aren't automatically in out starting XI every week should be sold/loaned/given to [strike]our rivals[/strike] other teams in the same league as us. It makes perfect sense!

I'm not sure if that's a sarcastic comment of what Kev but, what's the point in keeping them if were never going to play them?
Makes no sense at all.
Yeah don't sell them to the rivals lol obviously but Sunderland are hardly rivals are they?

I've highlighted the word that's the problem with your idea. Just because he might not be 1st choice doesn't mean we should get rid!
We need a
squad of top players in order to be successful.

if you cant work out if that is sarcastic or not then you probably equally cant understand why we would need any more than 11 players in the squad.
just pointing it out like.

Given might not be the same after his shoulder injury,he may fall again,he may stub his toe,get a groin strain, fall out of the bath.
We need two top class keepers, let them fight it out.
Joe can leave if he puts in a transfer request,City accept it and then a club offers us 15 OR OVER millions IMHO.

We are actually permitted to have more than the startin XI on our books. If Hart doesn't like it on the bench, well they do have a very accurate word for that in Russia - toughskis

Spot on.
He doesn't like to fight for starting spot. Tough shit. Then he shits on bench until he feels up for it.
Anyway, if all goes according to plan we will play nearly 60 games next season. There will be plenty of chances for him as well.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

HAHA!
Anyone remember when DaMarcus Beasley took a wee while stretching for USA? That was class.

I think this is why we re-signed Taylor, as it was going to be inevitable that either Joe or Shay would be unhappy playing second fiddle.
I wouldn't mind either Joe or Shay going out on loan to Sunderland, I think we owe 'em one.

the male one - who is very protective of my missus in a feline sort of way - actually did shit in my shoe one time after me and the missus had an unusually nasty row.

No.
Unless he hands in a transfer request for being a lazy, arrogant twat and at that point we should ask a proper fee of around £15m and if no one comes knocking Joe should rot in our reserves until he is willing to fight for the shirt.
