Carlos Alberto Tevez

Potentially, Ade and Super Mario

On his day Ade is the complete striker

On an another day he is the complete opposite, hence the "potentially" reference.

Tevez is definitely world class, I'd argue that Silva is too, he just hasn't been able to showcase it yet at Valencia. After that, Hart, Balotelli and Johnson are potentially up there. De Jong, Yaya and Kompany are close to it but not quite.

I agree with you on yaya, you have to go on what players win in their career. For me they need to have won a league title , champions league or world cup to consider them to be world class.

1000s of players across the world have the potential to be world class but only a handful can do it consstently week in week out and in the big games.

Vieira still oozes class, and it was great to see him get the full 90 minutes tonight because we'll surely need to call on him in 'emergency' situations, and he still has the capacity to cut a defence to shreds with one devastating through ball

Tevez, Hart, Silva, Toure YaYa, NDJ, Given -- all for cert

Potentially AJ, and Adebayor. Milner's a bit of a stretch as is Kompany, but both would be welcomed in any Top 4 side in the Prem or any top side in the world right now i think. The rest have got a lot to prove, but jesus it's a deep team we've got. Impressive.

It's hard to include Paddy in the list cuz he's past his prime, but he clearly still has something left in the tank. I may be silly but is anyone thinking he may get a cheeky start on Sunday or is his body not up to that?

cheers

Although I'm never really sure of the definition of world class and it's not a term I use, I'd say that Tevez, Silva and Yaya are up there, I'd also throw Vinny in to the mix as one who is improving rapidly and will develop in to one of the best.

However, I think we're jumping the gun slightly with Hart and Johnno as both have a long way to go yet before they can be classed as top players. Very good, yes. Potentially world class, yes. World class at the moment, no.

That'd be my exact sentiments too.

World Class in my mind means if you can name another player who would come in and take the players spot no question, then they aren't world class.

Hart isn't there yet
Vieira has the mind: he'll never get the stamina and pace and willing body punishment back, though, but the experienced mind might just compensate.
Kompany is not quite there.

When I define World Class I think of Zidane, Messi and Ronaldo (The Original)

I think we have some phenominal players, no world class though, however we do have 4 players with potential to be world class;

Tevez
Silva
Kompany
Hart

For me, there's a lot of people being hard on our squad - and setting the 'world class' bar too high. There aren't only 11 world class players. For me, a player is world class if they'd walk into any squad in the world.

And we have:

Tevez
Silva
Yaya
NDJ

Potentially:

Hart
Balotelli
Kompany
AJ
Kolarov
Boeteng

Premier Class: (any squad in the PL)

Given
Barry
Milner

On(In) his day:

Ade
Kolo
Vieira
Nijinsky

World Class is the most overused phrase in football, witness the billing any England team receives pre a World Cup.

I'd say Tevez and Silva come into the Wold Class category.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by World Class. Using some posters' interpretation we must have about 20!
