How to pass yourself off as a city fan

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

How to pass yourself off as a city fan

Postby ashton287 » Wed May 11, 2011 5:04 pm

Good of the club to do this for the 50,000 people that will be at wembley on saturday that arent city fans or stoke fans

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/FA-Cup-count ... de-to-City

Or they could of just sold the tickets to city fans (the ones they give a shit about that are important to the club that have supported them through thick and thin and fucking robbie fowler) instead of handing fuck knows how many thousand to sponsers and there mates and there mates mates mate

Just sayiiin.

Rant over

yeah very sad to see this guff on the OS but its a sign of the times ,Club has to take the money of the new fan who wants to jump on the bandwagon .Hopefully with success we manage to keep some integrity and dont total sell our souls like the dirty Rags ,I have faith we can ,we are a club with true tradition and a bedrock of diehard fans, we dont need to exploit a tragedy and the family's of dead footballers to gain new fans .

flew to NZ recently through Abu Dhabi with Etihad ,you can buy mini moonchesters in the duty free and Blue moon rising was on the entertainment screen . With Champions league football and an FA cup to celebrate ,The club should start to see an even greater increase in City interest from around the world .Thousands of glory hunters will join our fanbase and will want to learn about the club , real City fans will put them straight and teach them that wearing a store bought replica shirt and pretending to know all about our history because you read the cliff notes on the OS does not a Blue make .

Do you know what, success means we'll get all the Johnny come lately's and glory hunters and that's fine by me because it goes with the turf. What racks me off no end and I'm thinking chelski fans here (maybe its a Southern thing) are the twats who come out with the "I've supported them all my life" and "I was there when we beat blah blah".

It will be interesting to see if we are similarly affected by these knobs or not

I'd say it's a nailed on certainty.

And 'infected' might be a better word :-)

What an embarrassment to our club, why on earth are we putting rubbish like this on the site.

Everyone in football knows that we will attract glory hunters once we begin to win trophies, but to advertise that fact and brand ourselves alongside the Rags and Chelski is stupidity at its finest.

I hope the PR people at the club realise what a mistake they have made and remove it, or at the very least, learn a lesson or two about what they should be putting on the website.

Also, if we are trying to attract new support from around the world, I for one would read that and then immediately hate the club for being almost big-headed and gloating about getting into the CL and FA Cup Final.

At the end of the day, we haven't won a single bit of silverware and it makes me cringe to hear other blues boasting about winning the FA Cup like it's a foregone conclusion, but for the club to do it, in my opinion, is totally unprofessional.

I was made aware of this by Justin Moorhouse on twitter, and if its worked its way onto Twitter for all to see, I fear we will soon become a laughing stock once again at the hands of the media circus.
"If we fire our manager after just one bad season - We'll become Chelsea"
"If we think we can fix the problem by buying expensive players - We'll become City"
"If we remember the good times to entertain us during the bad times - We'll become Liverpool"

So, keep calm and do it the United way

"We invest in young players, That is what we are good at — we’re not like other clubs who can spend fortunes on proven goods. We know that Manchester City are going to pay stupid money, pay silly salaries and all that. We can’t do anything about it. We concentrate on what we can do to try to bring players in for the right reasons. We invest in those who will be with the club for a long time, who will create the character of the club, who will create excitement for our fans. We are very proud of that and we are going to continue that way" - Alex Ferguson 14th May 2012

Terrible 'article'. It's not even ironic or sarcastic. Why would anyone want to put a piece like that up?

In all my years supporting City I've never seen anything more embarrassing

Can't believe someone actually authorised that for the OS

The Caf are having a proper laugh at our expense as we speak

Nice bit of PR..bellends

I'd like to thank the club, this was a very informative piece that wasn't in the least patronising.

Thanks also for using it as a promotion to link straight to this season's Tevez 32 shirt for £60. Can think of a number of reasons why I will definitely get my money's worth out of that.

Fucking terrible that, getting pilloried by all and sundry and deservedly so. Remindsme of that guide to fitting in in Manchester that some red shite fanzine published a while back.

Nice one OS!

While I seem to be in the minority who isn't up in arms, (pretty neutral really, reckon they are doing a tongue in cheek for the masses from round the world who will dip into the OS before the Cup Final), but the master stroke is, it has given us something to focus our moaning on, in these fabulous times for the Club.

Personally I'm delighted people are taking the piss, it means we have arrived and they care.

The Revolution continues.

I found it very useful to be honest apart from the past players name bit ... always thought it was Francis Best, Colin Law and Yaya Charlton
