MCFC.CO.UK finally has a go at Merson!!

So what exactly has Paul Merson got against City?

The former Arsenal midfielder rarely gives the Blues any credit in his role as a Sky Sports pundit and he continues the theme in his column in the Daily Star this morning.

Typical of the snipes Merson has on a weekly basis on TV, he is at least consistent in his latest Star feature ‘Sergio Aguero not that hot’.

Beginning with the line, “I said Sergio Aguero was no Carlos Tevez, and I stand by that.” This based on less than half a game and the opposition being Swansea City! But there’s more Merson views on City…

Merson continues: “I watch Roberto Mancini and he looks like he can upset players, and they can upset him. However well they do, there will be rumbles coming out of that club. And Mancini is too cautious. He reminds me of George Graham. They would both rather win 1-0 than 5-2.

“There’s nothing wrong with that, but when United go away from home they try to win every time. City went away last season and played as though they were trying not to lose.”

We’ll have to presume Merson didn’t see last season’s Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium then when the Reds were anything but adventurous! Whatever his gripe, the Blues have clearly upset the ex-Gunner at some point and no doubt Sergio will prove him wrong in the coming months - and we'll stand by that, Merse.

While the Samir Nasri stories rumble on, there’s a good mix of press conference quotes and Carlos Tevez snippets knocking around, too.

The main focus, however, is on the clutch of former first-team players who currently can’t find a home – stories that will last up until August 31 at the very least.

Alan Nixon in the Daily Mirror reckons one deal that looks like a real possibility with crowd favourite Shaun Wright-Phillips a target for QPR.

Well done City for taking notice and pointing him out as the degenerate crackhead anti city twat that he really is

That will be why we got 28 points away from home last season and scored 60 league goals in total!

Why don't his employers pull him up on things like this? It doesn't make them look very good really!

Because they think he's entertaining, it gives Stelling someone to take the mickey out of. It really annoyed me that no-one ever pulled him up on his predictions for last season, worst buy = David Silva! But unfortunately it seems Sky like him in the Alan Davies/QI type role

In truth, he is a simpleton(shocking I know).

You could argue that City started off defensively against Swansea, but I think Mancini knows more about the game than these muppets who call it defensive. Swansea are a newly promoted side against a team that should beat them easily and he knew they would come with no fear and plenty of energy. So he took the approach of letting them get in the groove of the game, then upped our tempo and tore them to pieces.

To a simpleton(i.e. Merson, McManaman, Doomy(couldn't resist)) it looks like negative tactics, what it really is is a chess master planning his moves four steps ahead.

All this talk of defensive midfielders is bullshit as well, only de Jong is our true defensive midfielder and you can see when he isn't on how much we lack a defensive anchor in midfield. Barry is your typical box to box central midfielder and Yaya almost looks like a second striker most of the time.

If they don't know what they are looking at, they let their tints(whatever colour) blind them and they just rush down the path of least resistance.

Manchester city 10/11 away stats - W8 D4 L7 GS26 GC21 GD +5 Pts 28
Scum 10/11 away stats - W5 D10 L4 GS29 GC25 GD +4 Pts 25

Soooooo we won more, got more points, conceded less and a better goal difference.

Call me naive, call me shirley if you want. But it wasn't that hard for me to find that out. Infact it took more time typing it out then it did to find the actual info. So if your being payed to write about football you should maybe either know a little bit about football (i checked this because i know our away form wasnt too bad and the rags was atrocious) or if not then maybe do a quick google search to check if your right before coming out with this bullshit. I mean it is his job, someone is paying him to do it and he just doesn't. Why is it allowed to carry on atall. Any other industry you have to atleast be able to manage something resembling your job description to get payed.

If he had done a quick check he would have been able to compare our away form to arsenals which was pretty fucking outstanding. This would have given him the benefit of being A) right and B) as an ex arsenal player i would think atleast some satisfaction.

I know you can't expect much from the fat faced fucktard but from the people who work around him or are above him i would expect some level of professionalism.

Well done City, now put him on the 'Kick Him To Fuck' list for everytime he nears our stadium. It may have also had something to do with this little piece he did for his Sky predictions which I thought showed no respect to Us, Swansea and Bolton alike; unless I'm reading too much into it?

It was a lovely start to the season for Manchester City. You couldn't have hand-picked a better game than Swansea at home.

I predicted a 3-0 win last week, so I wasn't surprised to see them win comfortably, but you have to remember who they were playing. Swansea played into their hands a little bit and after 20 minutes they squeezed on and steamrollered them. They did what they had to do, you can't knock them, but I won't get carried away until they do that to someone like Man United.

This game will be a harder test, but this is not the Bolton of old. This isn't the Sam Allardyce team that was in your face and made things difficult, this a team that is much more open - and that may play into City's hands again.

If I was a Man City fan, I'd want to see the manager play an open game here. They've got much better players than Bolton and if they want to win the league they need to have a go at teams like this. Last year they went away from home and made sure they didn't lose, but I hope they attack more this season.

I think Roberto Mancini should play the same team that started against Swansea. Sergio Aguero looked like an unbelievable talent when he came on, you couldn't have asked for any more, but I still wouldn't start him yet.

Let's get it in perspective. He came on at 1-0 up against a Swansea team that was getting absolutely battered. The real test is yet to come against the big boys. I'm not saying he won't do it against the better teams, but we shouldn't get too carried away just yet. It was an incredible debut though.

Bolton had a good win last week and proved how important it is to get the first goal in this league. I don't see them winning on Sunday, but if Mancini is too negative then anything could happen.

PAUL PREDICTS: 0-2

In fact, reading it again it doesn't sound to bad, I must've been a little pissed-off first time around.

Just turned Soccer Saturday on and they're on about Arsenal and I hadn't realised how pro-Arsenal Charlie Nicholas was. I knew he'd played for Arsenal but when he mentions them as 'We' how can you have any impartiality?

Within 2 minutes of talking Arsenal, after mentioning Nasri, they had to mention that about Aguero, only going to City for the money, otherwise he wouldn't have joined.

With a panel of Crackhead, Big Nose, Nicholas and Le Tiss then is it any wonder we don't get a decent preview from them.

Nice analogy Slim although, to be fair, chess Masters and Grandmasters calculate a lot further ahead than four moves, especially if they're looking to sacrifice any material.

Good point also about Big Nige, whenever he's not in the team.

Very true mate, but he seems to be turning with the Nasri issue, a few backhanded comments already.

To be fair, i'm pretty confident that Slim likely knows little about serious Chess strategy. He's probably more likely to give a game of Chutes and Ladders (or Snakes and Ladders if you prefer to call it that) a spin, and it's probably ethically a better lesson for him anyway.

i am not in fact a chessmaster, tho i know a thing or two about brinkmanship.

Just so we're clear here, you are fine with offering absolutely zero to the actual conversation right?

We'll have to get an Argentinian to fill in the ranks I think.

And as for chessmasters, Kasparov said he only calculated moves 3-5 ahead. Considered the greatest chess player of all time, I think he might know.

Merson is a smack head who has a small dick due due to permanent brewers droop. He got caught fingering Sol's a-hole because he wouldn't lend him his crack pipe.
