****City v Dippers - Official Match Thread****

Postby s1ty m » Wed Jan 11, 2012 10:52 am

That's 2 this season,. OK, it's early but I have 10 minutes at work and 8 were wasted reading my Wagons round thread that has been infected by some sort of louse from Wankland.

Slightly bothered about this one. Team selection is already causing me some stomach gripes. No Vinnie, Yaya, Silva, Balotelli and not even Dzeko if I have read DH's training gems correctly. Barry must return, Kun must be knackered after
runnign his tripe our ofn Sunday, so I don't know what to expect at all. I hope Mancini picks his best side, because going out of this one (I know there is a 2nd leg) after the Cup robbery would be tough to take.

I'd go:

Hart
Zabs Micah Lescott Clichy
NDJ Barry Milner
Nasri AJ
Kun

I can't see a better alternative, if the injuries are confirmed. It's just our luck that we get this red card chite, injuries and African Cup Of Nations in the key month of the season so far. I would also expect Mancini to pick something entirely different.

Whatever, Wagons round, come on you Blues!

I would be worried with both AJ & Nasri behind Aguero. AJ isn't putting in a good enough shift and Nasri tends to disappear during the game. But then what other options do we have? Are Dzeko & Mario both definitely out? I'm hoping one of them can play at least. Fingers crossed! Come on blues!

its time for NDJ, nasri and johnson to up it a notch or two, if they dont we will be beaten, or draw at best, pool will put out a strong team.

I thought dzeko and balo have been passed fit.

I would be happy with

Panto
Richards-savic-lescott-clichy. I think after Sunday zabs might replace Richards though. Been that way all season.
NDJ
Barry-Milner
AJ-Nasri
KUN.

Sit back, don't get dragged out. Use Barry and Milner as the platforms for nasri, aj and kun to build on. Be patient and stay in the competition.

If we manage to get a lead even if it's only 1-0 I want to see a few kids come on so kun and Milner aren't fucked for Wigan.

Whatever happens today, we can see that we still need to improve the squad still further for next season & imo, the last few days have proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that those of us who said at the start of the season, that we need four strikers, are correct. Luckily for us, none of the injuries to strikers are long term (if they were, our title challenge would be in peril).

After the shift Aguero put in on Sun, I hope we can rest him tonight, otherwise we risk injuring him.

If SIlva isn't playing, we have to get Samir Nasri central rather than out on the wing, he was so much better for Arsenal when he played through the middle, he isn't a wide player.

I agree but Nasri doesn't. In an interview recently he said he prefers to play out wide.

Hopefully AJ can put in a shift and get one of his left foot wonder goals. As said previously, I wouldn't mind giving Sergio a rest if possible.

With all the injuries, suspensions and absences we are now underdogs in this tie.

Time for siege mentality. We need goals as I dont see us keeping a clean sheet in either leg - any kind of a win tonight would be welcome, 2-1, 3-2, anything so that we have something to go to Klanfield with.

We need a week of desperately.

We dont play again until Monday and that is Wigan, who are piss poor and dont tackle. Then we dont play until the following Sunday.

Something tells me Pantilimon is contracted to these things. Something else tells me Micah can be a bit wild at CB, so I have a feeling for this team (Agüero on bench in case we need him):

Pantilimon

Richards Onuoha Lescott Clichy

Barry DeJong

Silva Nasri Balotelli

Dzeko

Any news on whether Steve McMahon is coming out of retirement? For either team.
