I want RVP?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I want RVP?

Postby Dunnylad » Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:25 am

In my half asleep / awake phase this morning Radio 5 Live reported Mancini as saying he would like to sign RVP but that he'll stop at Arsenal - now I can't see anything on here this morning so did I dream it? Personally I think this is RVP's best season & he'll struggle to match / better it & would be better buggering off to Spain

Well what he said was:

“I think if there is a good player who wants to leave a club, then we are interested,” Mancini said. “But if this player wants to stay, we don’t have any problem.
“I think Robin van Persie will sign a new contract at Arsenal because if Arsenal also lose Van Persie, they will have a big problem. But we are interested in all good players.
"This is normal, but not only us. I think all the good teams are interested in Van Persie.
“Van Persie at this moment is one of the best strikers in Europe with Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and with Sergio Agüero and Mario Balotelli. I think he is a fantastic striker, but I think he will remain with Arsenal.

So basically anyone would want RVP or they would be a lunatic.

Not sure our paymasters will sanction the required funds for a player with no sell-on value though. Thanks to Mr Platini and his anti-investment rules.

Mancini should have just said 'no comment'. He surely knows by now, how this will be used to criticise us. He is a fucking knobhead for saying this.

He has just made our job of winning the title that much harder by opening his stupid fucking mouth & winding up Arsenal & their fans when we have to play them. They've got a real turd in their pocket about us taking their players already & this makes absolutely sure they'll be focused on us.

He accuses Balotelli of being naive; this is as stupid as anything Mario has ever done.

Doesn''t his contract expire in july? If so and he didn't sign a new contract yet, my bet is that he waits so see if Arsenal will qualify for the next season of CL. If they fail, i am absolutely positive he will go elsewhere.

We keep inviting it as well though.

Edit: Peter Reid is on with Keys & he's doing a sterling job, won't give anybody even an inch to get at City on any subject.

The only thing he has done wrong is to not say it in a cheeky chappy style opening up with: "i'm not one to talk about other teams players but...."

RVP has said he will not discuss a contract extension until the summer. This makes sense - if he wants to play CL and Arse are not in it then he is in a stronger position. He may also want to see what other plans Arse have to strengthen the squad before he makes a decision

Have to feel that he will make a move to Spain if he is going anywhere.Fantastic player but it's only a matter of time before injury sidelines him again and that would be the only reason i would not want him at city. This must be the best stretch of football he has seen over the last 5 years he usually gets sidelined on a regular basis.
