Of course, I suspect Carroll will be dropped even though Carroll/Shrek forward line might actually do quite well together.

Can someone explain to me the point of Glen Johnson? Can't defend, doesn't bust a gut to get anywhere and overhits crosses like Sun Jihai on roids. How Micah isn't in this squad is baffling and I certainly hope Walker is injured because leaving him out is criminal if he's fit.

Peculiar one. Hodgson said it was a straight choice between Jones and Richards.
Perhaps the fact Richards became second fiddle to zabs didn't help his cause. He should def be there though.

You could say the same with most of the zillion Liverpool players in the squad too, the only answer I can come up with is to sell merchandise to those neutral none-European overseas fans of theirs who will probably be watching.

jesus...it's not for merch. Roy has a vision. I think it's mostly shit with all these liverpool players, but hey....he runs the show, and he'll live and die by his own decisions and it feels like a man trying to make them absent "conventional wisdom."

Richards should be in the squad, as should Jinky. It's that simple and not that hard.

Today's a big day for Roy...he either achieves the England status quo by getting his arse kicked by a better team in the quarters OR he fucks this up fully and bails out in the Group. I don't see this playing out any other way for England unfortunately...tho i'd cheer them on like fuck if they could beat spain. First up tho, Ukraine, which will not be easy.

1-1 draw is my prediction. Does England go through with that result? sorry i haven't been paying more attention.

I find it hard to support a team who relies on that granny fucker and over hypes him. I hope he breaks his leg. England doesn't need him.

Rumour has it Richards rejected the chance to be on the standby list.

Is it 2 England goals in 3 years (*edit!) for Rooney?

We are a better team without him.

The job was to get out of the group, we'll just about manage it I think, although no doubt it won't be easy, Rooney sent off early after scoring 1 or 2, but a draw to finish.

Apparently Rooney hasn't scored competitively for England since 2004? Can this be right?

We are going to batter them ... batter them I tell you. I quite like Richards not being in the team/squad ... keeps him nice and fresh for next season altho it is criminal how Johnson is in before him

Only if you ignore the goals he's scored in competitive matches since then.

I'm looking forward to this game but I ain't confident. Without Shrek I thought we'd work hard but now he's back I'm worried about the way the team will feel obliged to give him the ball.

As for Johnson, didn't Hodgson say he was there for his defensive qualities? If that's the case, why is Milner there to baby-sit him then? Fucked up his own statement there.

If he scores a hat-trick tonight then I'll forgive him for his barnet.

I'll still take the piss though.
