MuEN

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

MuEN

Postby leomcfc » Wed Feb 20, 2013 4:38 pm

Was in the newsagent before and caught a glimpse at the back page.
Firstly , is it me or is putting the prem ,champ league and FA cup trophies all over the back page saying 'it's on' in february a bit strange? Also photos of the parade in 99 as if they have won it this season.
Secondly , as we are holders of the prem and still in the FA cup with the easier draw, I find this quite disrespectful.
I think I'm quite a laid back fella but this got me big time. Anyone else think this is out of order?

i haven't heard any media or pundits refer to us as the reigning or current champions this season,it is very f...ing annoying but would do u expect from the ultra bias media.where were they last year when the rags won nothing,i didn't hear anyone suggest red nose retired but bobby delivers the title and they scream get him out every minute of every day.so yes it does annoy me a lot!

No that's fine mate. I actually started this thread to try gage If I was over reacting . I don't post much but I read daily and respect a good few on here. I'm aware there are blag rags on here who try stirring stuff as well.
I'd be grateful if somebody could put up the back page so people can see. I am not great at doing that stuff.
Also I'm aware that there is already a media mcfc thread so I apologies if this should have gone on that.

Just to make it worse, the Daily Mirror has been running with this treble nonsense since Christmas.

Absolutely nauseating.

I'm afraid a treble is very much on for the scum, so not surprised a Manchester paper would feature it and highlight their last treble.
If we want respect let's gain in by running interference in the two comps we're still in rather than getting a feeling of injustice.

I think it would be out of order for a Manchester paper not to point out that the treble is on. And out of order if our boys don't stop it in its tracks

I've heard it in every single commentary game

It does however get mentioned at least 5 times more per game if we are not winning

Those of us of a certain age will remember the Mighty Leeds - and although they dont have the trophy list of Liverpool and Scum, to me they were the most complete and best I've ever seen (except the keeper) - they were on for 3 trophies and within a week it was nil.

That's football.

The downside is that Leeds had bad luck and authorities (euro ref) against them, whereas that can rarely be said of Scum!

Wow, I missed that we're out of the Chumps League, when did that happen? I was referring to the fact both teams are competing for those cups but not necessarily all of them each

they could all end up in Manchester?

They fully believe that they will win the treble which is laughable, the fans believe the hype so much I've had a ten quid bet with my rag mate that they won't win it....easy money

I don't start gloating until the job is done cos we all know it can bite us on the arse. We have a job to do on Sunday and hopefully QPR can get any kind of result.

The Scum's Marketing Department have probably had the celebratory shirts, mugs, wall posters etc.etc. produced already, in readiness for the inevitable triumph.

You just made it sound like us winning and them dropping points as being a given this weekend but saying its the start of them falling apart this weekend. Hopefully that is the case though.
