He is contracted through next year and there's absolutely no need to even consider giving him extension at this stage. He will be 30 this time next year and on occasion this year it has seemed that he has lost a step. He could drop off the cliff any day now and we should just see whether that is some niggling injuries or is he really losing his pace.

Furthermore, there's his yearning back to Argentina and the fact that over past two seasons he has only played in 28 games.

A definite no at this stage. If this time next year he makes it clear that he WANTS to play for City and still HAS something to give to us then yes.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

You mean before his contract expires obviously. So my answer is no.

Once he's a free agent he can do what he likes as far as i am concerned.

He can still offer City something after next season, but i can't see him doing it on the wages he commands/ receives now.

Ahhh, I see. I'd like him to either see out his contract as an attacking midfielder with us or sell him to South America at the end of this season for a great big wad of cash, possibly in a player exchange deal.

He's such an on and off player, mostly on though.

I'd want him to stay if he wants to stay and he stabilizes his family life. Basically I'm with NQDP on this.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

The best striker I've seen in a City shirt, bar none. But he is definitely not what he was. I suspect City will let him go for 5 million to Boca this Summer and then use his salary on Cavani or Falcao, or even Suarez. All options which would be an upgrade, to be fair.

I've accepted he's part of the squad but still not forgotten what he did in Munich.

He had 2 and a bit great seasons, scored some important goals but he's been average at best this season and is clearly just running down his contract. If we could get £15m -£20m for him this summer then I'd let him go.

I'd see how this season plays out, but would most likely offer him a one-year extension in the summer.

If he wants to go back to Argentina, then I'm happy for him to see out his contract and then move back. What he did last year was terrible, but since he's been back he has worked hard and the players all seem to like him, so he's not disrupting the squad.

Moving forward, I think for all of our players over 30, then there shouldn't be anymore long-term contracts. Mainly one-year extensions, perhaps two at the most.

There isnt a cat in hells chance he will sign any new contract, nor that we will offer him one either.

He's here to see out his final year, and then bugger off back to Argentina on a free. This suits all parties, unless we can get someone to offer us major dosh for him this summer.

We do know that whatever his conduct or issues off the field, eg on strike/wants a move/homesick/wifes buggered off/he's knobbing someone else/been tapped by Milan/been tapped by Corinthians/Kia wants some time in the press etc etc, his effort and commitment will still be there, which is theo ne thing you can always give him credit for, though for £180k a week thats the least we should expect.

If Tevez signs a new contract at City, then my arse is the King of Spain.

I think you're mostly right, but as the question is "do you want...", I'd say yes so that when he does go back it's not on a free (there's money down there) and it would be a contribution towards to our FFP compliance.
I think he owes us at least that
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

Do I want him to re-sign? No. I want him gone. But its a moot point as we wont offer him a new contract and he wont sign one anway.

Big yes from me. One of the best strikers to ever wear the shirt. Despite causing us loads of shite at times he now seems happy and settled at the club.

He's been our best attacker again this year. Still plenty of goals and assists left in him. A run of starts is all he ever needed since he came to england and now is no different.

How some folk think he's finished rather than coming out the end of a dry patch is a bit surprising. ... although it's been said two or three times before.

Very few players in world football have as much drive mixed with genuine class. Suarez is the closest that we may be able to get and he's a far bigger cunt.

Every team could do with a tevez on the pitch. As long as that's possible, I'm all for it.

That's pretty well what I was going to say.He might not be quite as sharp or fast as he once was but he is still a threat to any team any time.He isn't all about scoring goals although he will score his fair share but he brings energy to the team that is so important. For me in the first 30 minutes last night he was almost the only player really at it in a forward sense.

Alledgedly he is happy at City now and I can easily see him being of real value to us next season as a number 3 striker or maybe even one of 4 depending on who we bring in.
