Genuine question

If we don't have a manager yet
Who keeps renewing contracts and signing players?
A 'No' uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a 'Yes' merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble.

If they are pretty close to appointing Pellegrini they must consult him a little on at least the signings mustn't they? Or does that not concern a manager in this 'modern' management/player acquisitions?

If we are to believe that Navas was spoken to 4 months ago that seems unlikely, unless Pelligrini was also signed and sealed months ago (although there's evidence if us taking to him I can't see him agreeing transfers then) - I do think it's all about this holistic approach & that someone in the club is deciding the direction we are heading by signing players - we lacked width, it looks like we have a wide player signing etc - I would presume Mancini didn't agree with their focus, hence one of the reasons why he was sacked

It's me. Who would you like me to sign next? I think I'll go for Kensuike Honda but if you've got a better idea let me know.

Keisuke.

He does take a nice penalty. :-)

That was an enthralling game. He and Kagawa were mesmerising.

I'm mystified as to why the rags didn't deploy Kagawa more effectively last season.

This is real life not a computer game and we have these things called company directors who actually sign all the paperwork. Under our newfangled holistic (or crapistic) eurosystem they make all the decisions and the coach just coaches. Hope that helps.

Can you sign Nakamura aswell? That way when I play Pro Evo everytime I win a free kick outside the box it'll go in and we'll win the Master League! Thanks

He got injured mate. A couple of times. Once he got himself right towards the end of the season he looked very good.

Obviously I hope he breaks down pre season, but he's one nifty player.

I'm guessing that the directors will have drawn up a list of players they've identified as suitable in different positions and that they will have consulted with Pellegrini as to who he wants us to get from that list

Maybe, seems more likely that he will get what he is given and be told to coach it...

I thought Pellegrini would be heavily involved in the transfers this season, but we have acted so quickly on players we have been scouting for a while, I'm not so sure now.

Perhaps the weakest positions were identified before the end of the season with Bob and the board and they got on it.

When Pellegrini arrives, I think he will make some decisions on the back line and forward line as they seem two areas we have not acted as quickly.

As stated by your correspondent at the time he signed, he doesn't fit their system. And if he does play, he and wooney are effectively doing the same job. He won't fit with rigid-4-4-2-man Moyes either. I think he would fit our style and formation though.

Australia remind me of England. I mean that in the bad sense unfortunately. Do you think you will still qualify, Dazmond? And do you think the move into Asia has done anything for football over there?

You are right in a sense Tokyo. Our young guys aren't quite good enough to replace our experienced players- just like England.

We are very clearly minimum 5 years behind Japan ability and technique wise. However, I thought we really stuck to our task against you guys and its the best I've seen us play for a very long time. If we can carry that momentum into the next two games we'll qualify easily.

Despite my earlier comment we do have a couple of young guys on the verge of breaking through which give me hope.

They are scouting & talking to players all the time.

The utter shite Mancini came out with about us 'not doing any work' in the transfer market, has muddied the waters as to how this stuff works. Mancini was being nasty & telling lies for his own reasons. Garcia for instance proved this when he said we had been talking to him months earlier. Van Persie has recently said how he was talking to Ferguson all along & hoping he could stick it out at Arsenal long enough for the Utd move to go through rather than sign for us.

This is no different. We scout players, we talk to their agents, we offer the manager the chance to sign the ones that bite.

In the case of Cavani, we've been at it for two years & still not sorted it. If we want him, we will probably have to pay more than we think he is worth. Pellegrini will already have said whether he wants him or not & who, if any, the 2nd & 3rd choices are.
