Was It A Penalty?

Postby Beefymcfc » Sun Feb 28, 2016 8:10 pm

Heard it was a clear penalty on the wireless and just heard Noel ask Baby Redknapp, who confirmed it.

But was it, and if so, why didn't the ref give it?

Ps. Just off to watch our 5 min 27 sec Premier League winning game ;-)

Even the BBC match report said penalty and red card, oh, Oliver has waved play on.

Possibly the most stonewall penalty this season

From the shitty radio commentary I had, and this was TalkSport by the way, the immediate reaction was that it was a penalty, no doubt. Next minute they sounded stunned, but happy, that it was a throw in.

I didn't get it.

well , in spite of so many sw pens this year. This one could easily have been given 9 times out of 10.

Imagine they were happy because at 2-0 the dippers would have been finished. Never let the correct decision get in the way of a dipper

No shadow of a doubt. As clear as clear can be. The ref just showed that there is another one who is prepared to miss things conveniently.

Was it like the opposite of the penalty call against Sterling then. '99% of the time it wouldn't have been given; it was very harsh!'.

Fucking cheating cunts! Even on a day like this they try and affect the results.

If Slim says it's a no brainer, you know it's bent!

He had been turned and had his back to the ball and just stuck out his leg backwards. No hope of getting the ball, just to stop Kun.
Ref could clearly see it too.
We could have been 4-0 up by the time they scored. Between this penalty and the couple of misses by Raheem and Sergio.

Cheers pal. What actually happened, I was on the road?

I haven't seen it on a replay on the telly, Beefy, but it happened in front of me and I was celebrating a pen. I didn't bother to wait for the ref which was a bit niaive given recent weeks. Sergio was on the break down the right hand side of the box. He cut inside with just the keeper to beat and Moreno, who had gone across to Aguero, tripped him up. It looked as clear as the balls on the bull.

"Ref could clearly see it"....spot on, excuse the pun. He just chose not to give it.

Cheers ITW (I was there too, BTW ;-)), and both explain it to me.

OD will be all over this but why the fuck do we have to put up with it. They mentioned it could've also been a red (subjective) so why did the ref feel, not think, that the pen' should've been given unless he's been told to keep it tight, or had a pre-conceived notion that the Dippers should win?

The ref bottled it simple as that, didn't want to send a player off on the big stage imo.

He only started dishing yellows when the dippers gave him no option.

So, he shouldn't be a referee; isn't integrity upmost?

You can see with many replays how bent Oliver really is.
