It's crazy but...

Postby gillie » Thu Mar 03, 2016 9:18 am

We can still win the league we can get 80 pts IF we win every remaining game.
Leicester would need to drop 8 pts which would leave them on 79pts
Spurs would need to drop 4pts to leave them on 79pts.
Arsenal only need to drop 2pts to leave them on 79pts.
Can we win all our remaining games Possibly will we Probably not but the fat bird hasn't even started to clear her throat yet so we still have hope. And you know what they say "It's the hope that kills you" I just love being a City fan!

We have taken 32 points from our last 22 league games, that's just about top 10 form at a push - an embarrassing return. With the players at his disposal we could win every game but with the record against top 8 and still to play united arsenal Chelsea and Saints away if we get 3rd spot will be the best I think we can get. I really hope im wrong but I really think we are going to miss out on 4th spot.

It's really to hard to tell one way or the other. Depends which City turns up on the day.

Like I said to Sis earlier, it looked like we turned a corner in terms of performance in the last 3 before last night. Hopefully that was just a hangover.

Same. 3rd at the moment seems like a realistic target. I'm worried we're not going to finish in the top 4!

3rd or 4th don't care which but unless we find some consistent form we won't get either.

After what we saw in Kiev and Wembley, I thought we could win it. Then I watched last night and recalled what a bunch of work shy bottlers they are, which explains why they haven't won back to back league games since October. I'd take your hand off for 4th now, as both us and Arsenal look under threat from West Ham and the rags

Experience would tell you that we have form for putting a late run together.
Unfortunately though in years gone by where we have done this there was always evidence through the season that this was something we were capable of.
Current evidence suggests that we have not played at all to any adequately high standard for any lengthy period of time. We have never looked comfortable since the first 3-4 games.
A performance last night and I would have believed.
I'm really only hoping for a top three and would be willing to ditch the CL now to get it.
CL next year has to be the priority going into summer transfer season.

When you put it like that my heart sinks as I would never ever back that to happen.

But we can't give up yet as there's lot to play. Only way we can win the league is IF we somehow find a way to win the next five on the bounce. And even then we would have to see where others sit at that stage.
Looking at the fixtures (Villa H, Naarch A, rags H, Bournemouth A, WBA H) it looks doable but look at the recording from yesterday or other horror shows from this season and its 1/15p.

Not a chance we are wining anything more this season. This team is done. As I have already said before, teams don't have to be good to beat us they just need to try a little harder than us. I was livid last night as we could have made a real statement but no instead we just walked around not able to make basic 10 yard passes.

Pep has a bigger job on his hands then he thinks. He needs to weezle out the lazy work shy bottlers and get some graft and backbone into this team.

I agree. I also think we have a real battle to get fourth. Seven goals in the last ten away games is dogshit of the highest order. We laugh at the rags but they are level on points. Diabolical

Defo not the PL but still an outside chance in the CL.
They try in the CL - 3 away wins, 4 late goals in matches...
For most of them it will be their best and last shot at the CL, so they will try.
If the key players that won us 5 trophies (Joe, VK, YaYa, Silva, Kun) are fit and supplemented by Pep's buys of Brown and Sterling and
if they are interested - we have an outside chance.

I don't think this team can complete with Barca. I don't want to think about their front three against our defence.

IF, yes IF we get by Kiev, we will be shown up against the first decent team we come against. A decent draw might see us into the semis but we'll be well shown up.
I would love to see us win the CL, but it's not going to be with that team.
They seriously need to knuckle down in the PL and secure next year's place in the CL.
But a lot of them mightn't be around next season. Pellers isn't around next season.
So do they really care. It could be subconscious. I'm not necessarily saying they are doing it on purpose. Whatever. There is not enough emphasis been put on the league campaign.
I just hope someone grabs the reigns soon and slaps them out of their stupor.
Agree with Sis. Pep has a helluva job on his hands when he arrives.
Just hope we still have CL football to offer him.

He has problems with shots from outside the box into his left-hand bottom corner. But that shot was from just near the carpark and was moving slower than Yaya with two broken legs and he still let it in. He's probably just changed the shampoo he uses, as no other excuse would make any sense.
