From a political standpoint, yes.
From a football standpoint, I don't really care.

I don't give two fucks about the English national team they are abject and a cash cow for the corrupt cunts at the FA , oh and a complete embarrassment to English football . However ! if we as a nation had any balls (no pun intended) we should pull out of the World Cup imo . We wont though because greed and money will prevail over common sense, humility and dignity as always , that's why the world we live in is in the state it is right now .

The adage that sport and politics shouldn't mix still rings true.

Yes, Russia should never have been awarded the World Cup in the first instance, but they were awarded it and we are one of the 32 nations to have qualified. Thus we should take our place. If we don't where is the line drawn? A no show in Qatar due to perceived "human rights" failures and oppression of women? A boycott of tournaments in the USA due to war mongering? Italy due to widespread corruption?

Whether we bomb at the finals or by some miracle we do well is irrelevant. We should be there to do well or fail. This is sport, to be played on a field of play, not in a parliamentary office

The Russian gas company, Gazprom, is a sponsor of the CL, let's boycott the CL.
Corrupt Russian money flows into London to be laundered, sieze it.
The Tory Party accepted £870000 from Russian donors (what do they want for their money?), give it back.
The West buys natural gas from Russia, stop buying it. I'm sure those whose homes will freeze in the winter will be happy to make the sacrifice.

Not going to happen is it? So forgive me if I don't take all this talk of having the biggest balls seriously.

No, absolutely not, should FIFA have pulled it away from there... Yes.

Football and politics shouldn't mix, when there is an ethical question then it is the responsibility of the organisers and not the participants to sort it

This - plus, if it's for political reasons, the beef is between the UK and Russia, not England and Russia.

On a sporting and security side, there's no way the tournament should be held in Russia. If England had've thrown the qualifiers in protest, or qualified and refused to participate before the draw was made, I'd have doffed my cap to them. Same for Qatar (although things there might get a bit interesting when it comes to this, with Egypt and Saudi Arabia - both teams who'd be fancied to qualify - having serious political beef with the hosts).

Have you decided England isn't part of the UK now?
